Who We Are
KEV builds mission-critical financial software for K12 schools across North America. Our platform provides real-time visibility and control over how funds are collected and managed, replacing fragmented workflows with secure, modern systems that schools rely on every day.
Trusted by more than 27,000 K12 schools managing over $8B annually, KEV delivers mission-critical software for payments, accounting, and reporting, where reliability and security matter. Headquartered in Toronto with teams across North America, we are scaling quickly and investing deeply in cloud-native, data-driven technology.
KEV is a place for people who care about building durable software at scale and doing work that has real impact in public education. We focus on solving hard problems, raising the bar on engineering craft, and building products that earn long-term trust from the communities we serve.
About the Role
At KEV, quality is not a downstream activity — it’s a core engineering responsibility. Our teams build and operate mission-critical SaaS platforms that process financial transactions for more than 27,000 K-12 schools across North America. Reliability, correctness, and trust are non-negotiable.
We are hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to embed within our product engineering teams and help ensure quality is built into how software is designed, developed, tested, and released. In this role, you will write test automation, influence system design for testability, and partner closely with engineers to catch issues early and improve delivery confidence.
This role is for an engineer who wants to spend most of their time writing code, building automation, and improving how teams deliver software.
How You Will Contribute
Embed quality early
Partner with Product Managers and Engineers during planning and design to identify risks, clarify acceptance criteria, and influence implementation decisions that improve testability and reliability.
Build automated test coverage
Design, implement, and maintain automated tests across UI, API, and service layers using modern testing frameworks. Ensure tests are reliable, maintainable, and provide fast feedback in CI pipelines.
Support shift-left testing
Promote and support shift-left practices such as unit testing, integration testing, and contract testing to catch defects early and reduce downstream rework.
Improve delivery confidence
Contribute to release readiness by validating critical workflows, monitoring quality signals, and helping teams understand risk and trade-offs throughout the development lifecycle.
Strengthen CI/CD quality gates
Partner with engineering teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, improving signal quality and reducing flaky tests that slow delivery.
Production quality and learning
Support post-release analysis, investigate defects, and help teams identify root causes and preventive improvements that strengthen long-term reliability.
Advocate for quality
Act as a quality champion within your team, sharing best practices, improving standards, and helping raise the overall quality bar across the organization.
