What is the opportunity?
The Senior Software Developer role at RBC is essential for leading the development and migration of critical applications.
This position involves leading the development and migration of Sybase databases and Java-based UI applications,
ensuring they meet IT Risk requirements. The role requires a strong focus on development best practices, team leadership,
and collaboration with IT and business lines to enhance software quality and operational effectiveness.
By partnering with IT and business lines, the role ensures that software meets business requirements and enhances operational effectiveness.
The role contributes to the overall business strategy by adopting industry best practices, ensuring compliance, and improving cost-effectiveness.
What will you do?

Lead the migration of Sybase backend and front end UI components.

Develop and implement development strategies and plans for critical applications.

Collaborate with IT and business lines to develop new or existing software.

Lead the adoption of industry best practices in software development.
-
Design and develop software components at different levels, including component, integration, and end-to-end scenarios.

Utilize various development frameworks and programming languages.
-
Ensure the deployment of appropriate development techniques to meet business goals.

Manage CI/CD and DevOps tools for continuous integration and delivery.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
-
Experience with hands-on software development (5+ years).
-
Experience in software design at different levels (component/service, integration, end-to-end).
-
Expertise in various development frameworks.
-
Hands-on programming experience (Java, Spring Framework, JavaScript, Python, SQL, Sybase, Hadoop, Spark, Linux) and source configuration tools (GIT, SVN, MKS).

Experience in a development environment with a focus on technical, automated processes.

In-depth knowledge of various development techniques and methodologies.

Strong business domain knowledge to apply appropriate development techniques.
-
Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GIT.

Understanding of ETL processes and batch performance testing.

College or university degree in a software development field or related.
Nice-to-have:
-
Strong business domain knowledge to apply appropriate development techniques, especially in finance risk systems.

Knowledge of Helios or OpenShift.
-
Software Development Certification.
-
Knowledge of ML and NLP would be an asset
