Signal Integrity and Power Integrity (SI/PI) Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) Engineer to join our team, focussing on high-speed electrical wireline systems. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing high-performance interconnects, ensuring signal and power integrity in high-speed package, chip-on-board, PCB, and cable designs.

We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. Our offers will align with the level during the interview assessment.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct SI/PI simulations and analysis for high-speed interfaces (e.g. 106Gbps and higher PAM4 differential signaling)
  • Develop simulation models based on electromagnetic analysis for PCB traces, vias, connectors, cables, IC packages, and photonics interconnects to ensure optimal SI/PI performance
  • Perform frequency-domain and time-domain analysis, including S-parameters, impedance matching, crosstalk, return loss, insertion loss, and power supply AC noise analysis
  • Work closely with cross-functional IC design teams to optimize high-speed interface layout floorplans to optimize SI/PI performance across a wide range of different interconnect technologies (e.g. C4 bump map for flip-chip BGA packages, uC4 bump map for silicon interposer chiplet designs, C4 bump map for chip-on-board pluggable modules)
  • Define design guidelines and develop reference designs for high-speed interconnects and power distribution networks (PDN)
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners for hardware design, PCB layout, and manufacturing to ensure optimal SI/PI performance
  • Validate SI/PI performance through lab measurements using oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers (VNAs), time-domain reflectometry (TDR), and other test equipment
  • Identify and mitigate signal degradation issues such as reflections, jitter, and noise coupling
  • Support package and PCB stack-up design, material selection, and layout optimization for high-speed signal routing
  • Drive improvements in design methodologies and best practices for high-speed electrical systems

What You'll Need

  • Masters/PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, or a related field
  • Previous experience with electromagnetic modelling and simulation
  • Strong understanding of microwave/RF and SI/PI fundamentals, including transmission line theory, s-parameters, crosstalk, channel simulation, PDN and EMIR.
  • Proficiency with EDA Tools: KeySight ADS, Ansys Electronic Desktop (HFSS and SIwave), Cadence Sigrity PowerSI/DC, or other similar simulation/modeling tools.
  • Ability to interpret s-parameters, impedance profiles, and power distribution network characteristics
  • Experience with high-speed IC package and PCB design
  • Proficiency in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, TDR, VNA, and spectrum analyzers for signal integrity and power integrity validation

It'd Be Amazing If You Had

  • Familiarity with IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet) and OIF standards
  • Experience with high-speed (e.g. 106Gbps and higher) NRZ and PAM4 SerDes
  • Understanding of digital and analog equalization and familiar with using IBIS-AMI model in channel simulation
  • Scripting knowledge (Python, Matlab, etc.) for automation of SI/PI simulations

We have a flexible work environment to support and help employees thrive in personal and professional capacities.

You’ll also be eligible for competitive benefits described as per below:
