The Morningstar Indexes Team leverages its expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions. It uses Morningstar's intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors to achieve their goals at every stage of the investment process-market monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity and asset allocation indexes.
The Role:
At Morningstar, helping investors is what brings us together and drives our work. We are looking for QA Automation Engineers or Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET) who specialize in full stack QA (Front end, Webservice, & Non-Functional testing) to join our team, grow with us, introduce us to new ideas and develop products that empower our users. Every day, you'll work with team members across disciplines developing products for our internal and external Index clients. You'll interact daily with our product managers to understand our domain and create technical solutions that push us forward. We want to work with other engineers who bring knowledge and excitement to the team.
Responsibilities:

  • Understand the Indexes applications and build test automation framework, as well as play a part in maintaining our existing suite of automated tests to be used by the entire Agile squad.


  • Develop and maintain functional test cases, System & Integration Test cases and test artifacts like test data, test cases and automated scripts used in SDLC.


  • Review functional requirements and determine the data requirements for executing the use cases end to end from creating functional manual cases to automating the cases for regression.


  • Execute manual or automated test cases that validate the functionalities, code quality and reports test results, following all formal test architectures and project processes


  • Ownership and autonomy to work on tasks and be pro-active in managing them end to end.


  • Research emerging test tools, trends and methodologies and enhance existing systems and processes


  • Work closely with Product Managers and Developers, while collaborating across teams


  • Mentor other Engineers on test methodologies, test automation, coding standards and best practices through code reviews and designing test plans


  • Participate in team communication and collaborate in planning activities, including stand-ups, iteration planning meetings (IPM), and retrospectives.


  • Manage and communicate regular updates on project status (e.g., work completed, work in progress, next steps, risks, quality, KPIs, and costs) to stakeholders, peers, Product managers, and others.


  • Document all issues, while assisting in RCA and in resolution of the bugs.


  • Help with production support to make sure our end of day client deliverables are successful


Requirements:

  • Strong computer science fundamentals plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Development


  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of software quality assurance practice.


  • Hands on experience in Java


  • Hands on experience with SQL


  • Some experience with Python


  • Hands on experience with testing tools such as Selenium, RestAssured, Junit, TestNG, TestRail, and Postman


  • Experience with BDD testing using Cucumber


  • Experience in continuous integration, and code review practice is strongly desired.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


  • Experience working on an Agile team.


  • Exposure to Capital Market domain (Equity, Indexes etc.) is a plus.


  • Exposure to working with Cloud systems (especially AWS) is a plus.

Base Salary Compensation Range
$80,457.00 - 136,761.00 USD Annual
Total Cash Compensation Range
$92,525.00 - 157,275.00 USD Annual
