About the Role
At Morningstar, our shared passion for empowering investors drives our collaboration and commitment. We're seeking a skilled QA Automation Engineer to join our Portfolio team. In this role, you will work closely with our product manager, scrum master, and developers to design and develop comprehensive test plans and cases, create automated scripts for front-end and back-end testing, conduct performance tests, and develop deep expertise in our products. No matter where you are, you'll have tools and resources to engage meaningfully with your global colleagues.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain test data management strategies to ensure data integrity and test reliability
  • Mentor junior QA team members in automation best practices and emerging technologies
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable automated test scripts
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement shift-left testing practices
  • Generate comprehensive test reports and dashboards to provide visibility into quality metrics
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks in the software development lifecycle
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging tools in test automation
  • Be part of on-call rotation for support as needed

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 3 years focused on test automation
  • Strong programming skills in C#, Java
  • Expertise in automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
  • Proficiency in API testing using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or SoapUI
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps)
  • Knowledge of behaviour-driven development (BDD) frameworks like Cucumber or SpecFlow
  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in an Agile environment
