Position Summary:

The Sr. Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the on-site planning, oversight and execution of all project-related tasks and activities required to fulfill contracted scope and to satisfy the expectations of the company and its clients. This role is essential to successfully executing projects in support of company franchises and modalities, to include coordinating a matrixed team of subject matter experts from various functional areas. The Sr. PM will assist with the creation, maintenance, and oversight of project schedules, will ensure adherence to project scope and will serve as the primary point of contact to clients for both the business and technical aspects of their projects. It is the Sr. PM’s role to integrate contracted scope into the project plan and for communicating this information to all members of the cross-functional team. Detailed responsibilities are listed below.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans, executes, and coordinates all aspects of the project to maintain schedule, budget, scope, and quality in accordance with project requirements

  • Ensures the dissemination of approved work scope to team members, working with operations leads and capacity planning to assign and schedule tasks related to the introduction of new projects within the site(s)

  • Oversees all aspects of assigned projects, sets deadlines, and assigns responsibilities

  • Manages the project budget to include planning and cost/resource implications of the approved work scope

  • Responsible for reviewing, approving, and tracking project expenditures through review of purchase requisitions and invoices

  • Assists with development of project integrated master schedules

  • Provides project management leadership to a cross-functional Product Development Team (PDT) required to successfully execute the project scope of work (ex. PD, Manufacturing, QA, QC, RA) and helps to define the mission, vision, and direction for the PDT.

  • Manages client and other project stakeholder relationships, communications, requirements and expectations, and interfaces directly with the client

  • Anticipates and proactively manages changes in project scope

  • Creates and maintains the project records and historical files in the Product History Folder

  • Monitors and manages project performance (through Earned Value or other methods)

  • Assists with writing reports and drafting SOPs (as necessary)

  • Assists with coordination and tracking of issue resolution

  • Ensures excellent communications within the team, to site leadership, to any other relevant stakeholders and to the client

  • Serves as primary point of contact with the client to include coverage of both technical and business-related discussions

  • Prepares and conducts program reviews and presentations of technical information with the department, across functional areas, clients, and senior management

  • Coordinates the development of subcontractor Statements of Objectives and Statements of Work

  • Coordinates and manages activities being conducted by subcontractors

  • Works independently, preparing regular project updates for the site leadership team to review and monitor performance based on metrics, objectives, and schedules

  • Creates meeting materials such as agendas, slides, and minutes for team meetings

  • Maintains information on project lessons learned and best practices and ensures dissemination within the PMO and applicable functional leaders

  • Assists with new business proposal preparation, as required

  • Interacts closely with Technical and Commercial Franchise Leads to support sales and business development

  • Assistance with identification of project risks and the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies/solutions as appropriate

  • Mentors the professional development and coordinates the work of subordinate PMs and Project Coordinators, as appropriate

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Project and/or Smartsheet

  • Strong leadership and management skills required

  • Ability to manage large, complex projects and/or multiple projects across multiple sites

  • Excellent communication, organization, planning and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated experience with timeline development

  • Experience with project management concepts, practices, and procedures

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, project management, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 6 years of combined technical and project management experience in biotech / biopharmaceutical manufacturing with a Bachelor’s degree or minimum 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree

  • CDMO experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

This job requires the employee to perform the following type of physical work:

  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Our target base pay hiring range for this position is $110,000.00 - $162,500.00 per year. Actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s geographical location, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge.
