Senior Project Manager
Journal Technologies is looking for an experienced, high-energy, results-oriented project professional to manage software implementation projects for our growing software and services company. A successful candidate will have a background in managing complex software rollouts, including requirements gathering, environment setup and installation, configuration/development, training, go-live, and support.
The Project Manager (PM) takes full accountability for end-to-end project management of highly complex software implementations. The PM engages with our personnel and customers to establish strong relationships and develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, and status reports. This position requires in-depth knowledge of contractual obligations and terms, with the ability to translate those into project deliverables. The PM will focus on the successful delivery of new software implementations, upgrades, and other add-on projects.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively drives the planning, execution, and reporting of projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations and organizational objectives. Independently coordinates stakeholders, timelines, risks, and financials to maintain overall project health and delivery.
- Defines and aligns project goals, objectives, and requirements, ensuring clear scope and consistent status reporting.
- Oversees project progress and key milestones, proactively addressing complex issues that may impact scope, budget, or schedule.
- Identifies and manages project risks, advising clients and senior leadership and ensuring effective mitigation strategies.
- Analyzes performance against project plans and recommends strategic adjustments to optimize results.
- Establishes and drives communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed, aligned, and responsive to issues.
- Leads project governance, including facilitating key meetings and ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
- Owns project financials, including forecasting, revenue milestone approvals, and invoicing, ensuring financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years of experience as a Project Manager or similar position responsible for defining and managing project scope, timelines, profitability, and effective delivery of products or services.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented, team-centered environment.
- Proven track record of managing multiple large implementations, meeting strict deadlines, identifying potential issues , and controlling scope.
- Proficiency in project/program management methodologies and practices.
- Knowledge of, and competency in, project management processes, including planning tasks, allocating resources, risk management, issues management, time management, financial management, team management, quality management, monitoring, reporting , and documentation.
- Demonstrates accountability, responsibility, and a passion for project management.
- Self-motivated, with a positive attitude.
- Detail-oriented and extremely organized.
- Ability to plan and facilitate effective meetings.
- Excellent communication skills for working with internal and external clients.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint , and Project/PPM applications.
- Proficient in Atlassian Jira.
- Experience working within Agile teams or formal training in Scrum or Agile methodologies is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in Criminal Justice or government sector is highly desired.
