Job SummaryJoin TYLin as a Rail + Transit Senior Project Manager and play a central role in expanding our Civil/Structural presence in Canada’s transit market. This is a build opportunity, ideal for a proven seller/doer who is motivated to establish and grow a high-performing team focused on rail infrastructure, track, and transit facility design across the Greater Toronto Area.You will be positioned at the forefront of TYLin’s growth in the region, shaping project pursuits, developing client relationships, and laying the technical and organizational foundation for a growing Civil/Structural rail practice.
This role is best suited to an established industry professional with deep roots in the GTA transportation market, particularly in rail corridor infrastructure, track design, and transit facilities.Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You’ll Do
Serve as Senior Project Manager on rail and transit projects, with full responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and team performance.
Act as a technical leader in the planning and design of rail infrastructure projects, including track alignment, rail corridor design, and transit facilities (stations, maintenance/storage facilities, yards).
Play a leading role in building and scaling a Civil/Structural rail team, including mentoring junior staff and recruiting key hires as the practice grows.
Drive business development efforts—identify opportunities, lead pursuits, and contribute to winning work across the GTA and broader Canadian market.
Lead proposal development, including strategy, technical approach, and client engagement.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with transit agencies, municipalities, and key industry partners.
Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, adherence to QA/QC standards, and successful client outcomes.
Manage client expectations, negotiate scope changes, and oversee contract modifications where required.
Collaborate across TYLin’s global teams to bring best-in-class expertise to local pursuits and delivery.
What You’ll Bring
Progressive experience in project management within the transportation sector, with a strong emphasis on Civil or Structural engineering for rail and transit infrastructure.
Demonstrated expertise in track design, rail corridor infrastructure, and/or transit facility design.
Proven ability as a seller/doer, with a track record of winning and delivering work in the Greater Toronto Area.
Experience building or growing teams, or a clear desire and capability to establish a team from the ground up.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Registered P.Eng. (PEO preferred).
Strong understanding of the GTA transit market, including key clients, delivery models, and upcoming opportunities.
Established relationships with transit agencies, municipalities, and industry partners.
Active participation in relevant professional organizations (e.g., Toronto Railway Club, AREMA, Canadian Urban Transit Association).
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A client-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering practical, high-quality engineering solutions.
High integrity and a collaborative approach to leadership and team development.

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $150,000 - $200,000 annually for this position and local market.
