Avidbots is looking for a strong leader to manage our Project Management Office (PMO) team, execute projects and help us scale and implement best practices across multiple projects. Our ideal candidate has a strong background in software and hardware development, as well as new product introduction and software products. Currently, our team is mostly managing projects but we are hoping to manage larger programs in the near future. Therefore, the ideal candidate has managed large multidisciplinary projects in the past as well as managing a program budget of $3M+ for new products. You have experience in roadmap planning, resource management, capacity planning and building and managing departmental budgets.

You are motivated to contribute to continuous improvement across our organization, using change management skills, negotiation and persuasion to champion adoption of new and improved processes, tools, and implementation of best practices leveraging metrics analysis to meet and exceed KPIs. 

The selected candidate will manage the Project Management Office and directly report to the CTO and VP of Product.

 

How you will make a difference:

  • Exhibit advanced wide-ranging experience, using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts and best practices to deliver on company objectives.
  • Manage projects from a budget, schedule and risk management perspective
  • Lead a small team of Project Managers and execute projects.
  • Interface with Finance to facilitate budget reconciliation and re-forecasting, financial planning and analysis.
  • Interface with Operations to facilitate transition planning for hardware changes, roll-out planning for new software, and product quality improvements.
  • Create and improve frameworks to allow the PMO to successfully meet and achieve KPIs for estimation accuracy and release delivery.
  • Oversee issue management for critical issues in the field or manufacturing.
  • Understand and work on complex issues using analytical techniques and data-driven decision making.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Management, Architecture, Systems Engineers and Engineers through the ideation, proof of concept, detailed design, NPI and release of new products and features and to improve existing products and platforms according to Avidbots’ processes.
  • Build and manage the overall R&D budget, program and project budgets.
  • Contribute to resource management through capacity levelling based on the product and technical roadmap across programs.

 

Required Qualifications

  •  BSc. or Msc. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Technology or equivalent experience in a technical Senior Program Management role.
  • Minimum of 7 years in a Technical Project Management role, with an experience in new product introduction and delivery of software on hardware products.
  • Experience creating and managing budgets at the department level.
  • Experience in managing multiple Projects in all stages of the product life-cycle.
  • Skilled in Project Management SW and ERP tools.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience reporting and interfacing directly with senior leadership and executive level.
  • Experience drafting and executing third party development agreements.
  • Experience with managing third party contractors, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.  
  • Proven ability to drive quality through rigorous project execution, and verification and validation testing methodologies.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large programs ($3M +) at different stages
  • PMP or other project management designations
  • Experience with regulatory compliance for EMI, functional and electrical safety, data privacy, and global market access.
  • Experience with Jira, and Confluence.
  • Experience working with overseas contract manufacturing and design partners
  • Passionate about robotics  / automation technologies
  • Experience with SR&ED applications
