OVERVIEW
McCain is embarking on a digital transformation. As part of this transformation, we are making significant investments into our data systems, structures and policies, and building digital products for our customers, key suppliers and McCain team members to enable digital processes and data-driven automation over time.
Our Technology team's goal is to inspire growth through innovative technology experiences. Our dig ital teams are key to delivering this ambition. McCain has established digital teams in Manufacturing and Commercial and we are now looking forward to expanding our investments in Agriculture.
McCain is looking for a Sr. Product Designer with a strong knowledge of the marketplace of agri-tech/science solutions and a proven track record of successfully delivering digital products in an Agriculture context.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a Sr. Product Designer to embed user centric design thinking in the way we deliver digital products in Agriculture. This is a great opportunity to build from the ground up; making way for change in our culture, in our operating model, and how we think about our digital products.
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Digital Technology Agriculture you will
- Design System Creation:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive design system and standards that ensure a cohesive and consistent user experience across all agriculture digital products.
- User Research:
- Conduct thorough user research to gain insights into user behaviors, needs, and pain points.
- Build and execute detailed research plans to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
- Persona and Journey Mapping:
- Create and maintain personas and journey maps to represent user segments and their interactions with our products.
- Utilize these tools to inform design decisions and improve user experiences.
- Application Re-Building:
- Lead the re-design of existing applications from the ground up, ensuring significant improvements in usability and functionality.
- Implement user-centric design principles to enhance the overall user experience.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, product owners, developers, testers, and other stakeholders, to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
- Communicate design concepts and progress effectively through presentations and documentation.
- Assist in driving a user-centered design culture by making key changes to operating model, governance, and community of practice.
- Prototyping and Testing:
- Create prototypes to test and validate design concepts with users.
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback and testing results.
- Mentorship:
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the design team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product design, with a focus on user-centric design.
- Proven experience in creating and maintaining design systems and standards.
- Strong background in conducting user research, building research plans and implementing continuous feedback methods.
- Expertise in creating personas and journey maps.
- Demonstrated experience in re-creating applications from scratch with a focus on improving user experience.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, using data to drive change and attention to detail.
- Experience in agriculture, food, manufacturing or related industry.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and working in a fast-paced environment
OTHER INFORMATION
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
- Travel: required
- Hybrid role: 2 days in office per week. This may fluctuate depending on the work to be done.

Compensation Package : $97,500.00 - $130,000.00 CAD annually + bonus eligibility + Long Term Incentive eligibility
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
