BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer with Java, Java Spring Boot and 8 to 10+ years of results-driven and diversified experience over the full systems and software development life cycle.
Objectives of this role:
- Communicate regularly with project managers, quality assurance teams, and other developers regarding progress on long-term technology roadmap
- Create and maintain workflows with teams to provide visibility and to ensure workload balance for consistent visual designs
- Develop and oversee testing schedules in client server environment
- Produce quality code, raising the bar for team performance and speed
- Recommend systems solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and cutting edge alternatives
Responsibilities:
- Write code and tests, build prototypes, resolve issues, and profile and analyze bottlenecks
- Design robust APIs to support various clients
- Manage and optimize scalable distributed systems in the cloud
- Optimize web applications for performance and scalability
- Develop automated tests to ensure business needs are met, and allow for regression testing
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed more than 50% on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility >50% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a computer related field
- Familiar with software architecture, design, and development experience using Java and RESTful services.
- 8 to 10+ years of software, system and dev ops exposure/experience
- Hands-on design and coding of three-tier architectures including Web and Electron front ends, RESTful web services and SQL based database back ends.
- Ability to innovate, evaluate and research new technologies while staying abreast of industry trend
- Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities
- The ability to engage constructively with peers and technical lead to communicate the technical approach, trade-offs, and technical decisions
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Highly motivated and able to work well in both team and solo settings
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience with Agile software development
- Full stack development with UI like Angular, ReactJS, VueJS
- Experience in cloud-based concepts such as AWS or Azure
- Knowledge of the DevSecOps development process
- Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, Redis
- Experience with Docker, Helm, Kubernetes
- Experience with Git
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
