Job Posting Description:

This is an onsite role #LI-Onsite

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Policy & Transformation, you will lead complex policy initiatives, provide expert policy advice, guide other advisors and consult with internal and external stakeholders to support LCBO policy development and the implementation of changes to the beverage alcohol marketplace in Ontario. You will also review and evaluate government and trade proposals to assess impacts to LCBO policies and programs while working collaboratively with stakeholders to address any concerns.

About the Role

  • Lead complex research, provide expert policy advice to other advisors/analysts and senior management, and evaluate latest issues to support LCBO departments, the LCBO’s Board and Senior Management, and the Government of Ontario on matters related to LCBO’s role in the beverage alcohol marketplace.
  • Prepare reports, briefing notes, correspondence, issue notes and presentations on LCBO policies and programs, and delivers presentations to LCBO senior management, the Government of Ontario, and industry associations.
  • Build and maintain a network of internal and external stakeholders, keep abreast of public policy developments and government and corporate issues related to the LCBO, and support the LCBO’s efforts to drive change and advocate for innovative growth.
  • Evaluate LCBO policies and programs to ensure strategic objectives are being met and programs are being administered effectively and present compelling business cases to initiate change to improve operational efficiency and enhance the end-user experience.

About You

  • University Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration or a related field. Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in an area involving policy analysis and development.
  • Experience of policy analysis and development techniques.
  • Strong analytical, evaluative, and interpretative skills.
  • Experience with collaboration, with a commitment to deliver the best results.
  • Solid judgement in dealing with confidential issues.
  • Track record of performing a range of tasks and issues simultaneously to a positive outcome.
  • Adaptability to work in multiple situations and with several individuals or groups.
  • Ability to provide guidance and technical leadership to other advisors/analysts.
  • Project management skills to effectively lead complex initiatives and deliver results.
  • Practical understanding of government processes, policy, and operations.
  • Government or crown corporation experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of beverage alcohol industry is an asset.
