The Department:
The Patient Access & Public Affairs Department works to improve the lives of patients in Canada by enabling access to life-changing medicines for diabetes and other serious chronic diseases such as obesity and rare blood and endocrine disorders. We work in partnership with external stakeholders to improve health outcomes through policy, advocacy and support of equity-deserving communities across Canada.
The Role:
Develop and execute market access brand strategies and tactics with global and local colleagues to drive private and public reimbursement. The individual will work on a variety of projects to support the access strategy, including reimbursement submissions, HTA and private market assessments, advisory boards, and pricing assessments.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of market access brand strategies for Novo Nordisk brands together with cross-functional Market Access team
  • Identify long- and short-term Market Access opportunities and challenges for assigned brands and develop strategies to shape the market to ensure a favorable Access environment
  • Lead the development of brand payer value story with clinical and economic key messages for payer interactions and submissions based on global templates and secure internal approval
  • Represent Market Access on cross-functional brand launch team and secure alignment
  • Align with local HEOR partner on execution of HEOR tactics in support of Market Access brand strategies
  • Collaborate with Global colleagues to enable strategies are aligned with Canadian Market Access needs
  • In collaboration with cross-functional partners, gain alignment and approval for launch pricing for assigned brands
  • Develop price negotiation strategies for public and private listings for assigned brands
  • Lead the development of payer value communication tools (core payer slide deck, leave behind, Q&A, etc.) for payer and HTA engagements based on global templates and secure internal approval
  • Lead the development and submission of reimbursement submission packages incl. clinical dossiers, BIMs, etc. according to each jurisdiction's requirements (Private, CDA, provinces, INESSS, federal plans)
  • Manage external vendors incl. timelines, budget and deliverables
  • Lead the team at external stakeholders' meetings with payer and HTA agencies
  • Present to payers, HTA bodies and advisory boards
  • Monitor developments in public and private payer reimbursement environment, policies and practices, and competitors' MAPA activities


Education Requirement:

  • Master's degree in health economics, pharmacy, science, or similar


Professional Experience (Preferred Requirements):

  • Minimum 5 years relevant pharmaceutical industry market access experience
  • Experience working with market access for chronic disease products


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Canadian pharmaceutical payer environment
  • Self-motivated to take initiative.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams


Working Condition:

  • Head office based
  • Estimated travel is 15-25 days per year
