Senior Manager, Lending Growth – Personal Lending

Role Purpose

The Senior Manager, Lending Growth is accountable for driving sustainable customer and portfolio growth across BMO's unsecured lending portfolio. This role owns the development and execution of growth strategies focused on customer-initiated acquisition channels, including through-the-door lending, cross-sell opportunities, digital acquisition journeys, and other key growth drivers.

Working across a highly matrixed environment, the Senior Manager identifies, prioritizes, and delivers initiatives that maximize customer acquisition, funded accounts, balances, and revenue while operating within established risk appetite. The role serves as the central point of accountability for growth outcomes, partnering closely with Analytics, Finance, Credit Strategies, Distribution, Marketing, and Credit Risk to translate insights into action and deliver measurable business results.

Operating with significant autonomy, the role combines strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and execution excellence to accelerate growth and strengthen BMO's competitive position in the lending market.

Key Accountabilities

Growth Strategy & Portfolio Expansion

  • Own the end-to-end growth strategy for customer-initiated unsecured lending acquisition across digital, assisted, branch, and contact centre channels.
  • Identify, size, and prioritize growth opportunities across customer acquisition, onboarding, cross-sell, and customer engagement.
  • Develop multi-year growth roadmaps aligned to Personal Lending objectives and financial targets.
  • Monitor market trends, emerging customer needs, and competitor activity to identify opportunities to accelerate growth.

Growth Analytics & Business Performance

  • Partner with Analytics and Finance to establish growth forecasts, performance targets, and business cases for strategic initiatives.
  • Translate customer, portfolio, and market insights into actionable strategies that improve acquisition performance and portfolio growth.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators across applications, approvals, funding, balances, revenue, customer engagement, and return on investment.
  • Continuously evaluate performance and optimize growth strategies based on results and changing market conditions.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that drive customer acquisition and growth outcomes, influencing priorities across business and enterprise partners.
  • Build strong partnerships with Credit Strategies, Credit Risk, Distribution, Marketing, Digital, and Technology teams to execute growth initiatives.
  • Coordinate delivery of strategic programs that enhance customer acquisition, conversion, and customer value.
  • Champion a culture of accountability and fact-based decision making to ensure initiatives deliver measurable business impact.

Customer Growth & Channel Optimization

  • Drive growth through customer-initiated acquisition channels, including through-the-door lending opportunities and digital acquisition journeys.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve cross-sell performance across Personal and Business Banking customer segments.
  • Optimize customer journeys to improve conversion, customer experience, and portfolio growth outcomes.
  • Ensure a consistent and customer-focused approach across all channels and touchpoints.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure all growth initiatives are aligned with regulatory requirements, risk appetite, and governance expectations.
  • Partner with Credit Risk and Credit Strategies to balance growth objectives with prudent risk management.
  • Maintain strong oversight of growth initiatives, ensuring appropriate controls and performance monitoring are in place.

Success Measures

  • Delivery of a clear and actionable Personal Lending growth strategy and roadmap.
  • Improvement in customer acquisition, funded account growth, and portfolio balances.
  • Increased lending revenue and customer engagement within approved risk appetite.
  • Strong performance across through-the-door acquisition and cross-sell growth metrics.
  • Successful delivery of strategic growth initiatives and commercialization efforts.
  • Effective partnership and alignment across Analytics, Finance, Credit Strategies, Distribution, Marketing, and Credit Risk teams.
  • Measurable contribution to Personal Lending financial and customer growth objectives.

Salary:

$85,500.00 - $185,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
