  • Act as the firm's internal subject matter expert on indirect tax matters and collaborate with Canadian, cross border, US, and advisory teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships while serving as a trusted business advisor.
  • Lead engagement teams, manage project budgets, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality client service.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop managers, senior staff, and other team members.
  • Contribute to practice growth through business development, networking, proposal development, and identification of new service opportunities.
  • Monitor legislative developments and emerging trends to ensure clients receive proactive and relevant advice.
  • Support thought leadership initiatives, client seminars, technical publications, and internal training programs.

What you bring to the table

  • CPA designation required.
  • Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program or equivalent advanced tax education is considered an asset.
  • 8+ years of progressive Canadian indirect tax experience in public practice, industry, government, or a combination thereof.
  • Deep technical knowledge of GST/HST, PST, QST, and related indirect tax legislation.
  • Experience managing complex advisory and compliance engagements.
  • Strong understanding of indirect tax implications in mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and cross border transactions.
  • Proven ability to build and manage senior-level client relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities and contribute to practice growth.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you will:

  • Be recognized internally and externally as a trusted indirect tax advisor.
  • Drive growth of the firm's indirect tax service line.
  • Deliver practical, commercially focused advice that creates value for clients.
  • Develop future leaders within the practice.
  • Strengthen collaboration across tax, audit, advisory, and wealth service lines.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the strategic growth of the firm's tax practice.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience at a Big 4, national, or mid-market public accounting firm.
  • Exposure to indirect tax due diligence and transaction services engagements.
  • Experience managing CRA, Revenu Québec, and provincial tax authority audits.
