Are you passionate about providing comprehensive and consistent HR guidance?  Reporting to the Director, People Services, the Senior Manager, HR Advisory (Retail) is accountable for overseeing HR Advisors assigned to client group (CRO; or SCW & Corporate) and resolving Tier 2 escalations in the HR Ops model. Partnering with the Director, People services, and working alongside peer(s) in People Services, HR’s Business Partnership, and HR COEs, the Senior Manager leads their team to deliver a positive, effective, and consistent employee/client experience as our people interact with HR.

About the Role

  • Leveraging available tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and relationships across HR, ensures effective case management is in place, results are measured and reported, continuous improvement is embraced, and a positive, effective, and consistent employee experience is delivered.
  • Collaborate with Director, People Services, and others to establish SLAs for case management / escalation – leads team to meet SLAs.
  • Manage case assignments in a way that leverages HR Advisor / Specialist capabilities, ensures case continuity, and achieves timely and consistent resolutions.
  • Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement related to all aspects of service delivery at Tier 2 - design, intake, triage, case assignment and resolution, metrics, etc.
  • Use a data driven approach to identify trends and opportunities to resolve inquiries earlier. Partners and influences at all levels of HR’s model (Tiers 0-3) to leverage these opportunities in a way that supports earlier case resolution with fewer handoffs.
  • Partner with HR’s Business Partnership to deliver client focused KPIs (case volume/type/trend) that drives leader accountability, coaching and development.
  • Understands relevant legislation, collective agreement obligations, and LCBO’s labour relations framework to enable compliance and support constructive labour relations.
  • Lead a team of HR Advisers who provide advice, coaching, and support to clients on Labour & Employee Relations issues (performance, misconduct, attendance, disability management, etc.).
  • Oversee investigations (discipline, harassment, etc.) undertaken by HR Advisory, and ensures compliance with internal processes, the collective agreement, and legislative obligations. Partners with Tier 3 and/or external vendors to conduct more complex investigations as required.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in HR, Business, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive and relevant HR experience.
  • Experience in a shared services environment.
  • Experience in effective people management, resulting in high engagement and productivity in a shared services environment.
  • Excellent ability to establish/ maintain relationships with other members across multiple divisions within the organization.
  • Demonstrated skills to acts as a network broker by identifying when to trigger a connection between people rather than just passing on information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • An ability to manage through ambiguity, work collaboratively in a team environment, and have fun while working smart.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional service every day, leading by example, and inspiring others.
  • Strong self-awareness and honed diplomacy skills.
