As the Senior Manager, Engineering of Platform and Security you will report to the Sr Director of Engineering and you will lead a team of talented engineers to design, build, and maintain a robust, secure, and scalable platform that empowers our development teams to deliver high-quality software rapidly. A successful candidate will have prior experience in security, DevOps/SRE/Platform, and is a hands-on technologist. This person is comfortable with multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and is responsible for the ownership of key projects. You will also be responsible for driving secure code design and integration of our software stack to keep our customers’ data safe while focusing on mitigating attack risks, securing cloud transformation, and fostering a culture of security and reliability within the company. You will play a pivotal role in driving our platform transformation, fostering a culture of collaboration, security, automation, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our infrastructure.


Your responsibilities:

- Oversee the design and architecture of our platform, ensuring it aligns with our business objectives, security requirements, and technical requirements

- Collaborate with development teams and other stakeholders to understand their needs and identify opportunities for automation and improvement

- Mentor a high-performing team of platform and security engineers

- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration within the team

- Provide guidance and support to team members, helping them to grow their skills and advance their careers

- Lead the development and implementation of automation tools and scripts to streamline infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and configuration

- Promote the use of infrastructure as code (Terraform) principles to ensure consistency, repeatability, and security

- Lead the implementation and enforcement of security best practices, policies, and standards

- Conduct security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning to identify and mitigate risks

- Collaborate with security teams to ensure the platform is hardened and protected against threats

- Coordinate and manage security and compliance audits in collaboration with our IT department

- Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with development, operations, and security teams to quickly resolve issues

- Conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes, implement preventive measures, and improve security posture

- Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive roadmap for the platform, aligning with the overall business strategy and security objectives

- Prioritize projects and initiatives based on their impact on business objectives, security requirements, and technical requirements

- Collaborate with stakeholders to define clear project scopes, timelines, dependencies, and deliverables

- Break down complex projects into smaller, manageable tasks to facilitate efficient execution

- Assess the capacity needs of the platform and allocate resources accordingly

- Monitor resource utilization and identify opportunities for optimization

- Plan for future growth and scalability of the platform while maintaining security standards

- Up to 25% hands on engineering work to support team 


What you bring to the table:

- 8+ years of experience in the software engineering industry, with a focus on Platform, SRE, and/or DevOps, with a strong background in cloud, supporting SaaS or similar business model

- 3+ years of engineering management/leadership experience of 5+ engineers

- Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and infrastructure as code

- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript

- Strong technical leadership skills with a proven ability to lead and mentor high performing engineering teams

- Deep understanding of platform engineering, security engineering, and DevOps principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Git, Gitlab, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Orca, Snyk, etc)

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal

- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and configuration management tools

- A passion for automation, security, and continuous improvement

- Strong project management and organizational skills.

- Experience with agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).

- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., CIS, SOC, NIST, ISO 27001).

- Experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., vulnerability scanners, intrusion detection systems, SIEM)


The salary range for this role is $153k to $204k CAD

The annual base salary range for this full-time position reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all Canada locations. Actual pay may vary, depending on qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity options, and company benefits (your recruiter can share more details during the hiring process). Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed above.
