Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior Manager, Embedded Development who is responsible for Quality and Test Automation, including test automation setups, as well as quality processes to enable embedded products delivered with world-class quality — we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

This role is responsible for leading a team of test automation developers delivering Hardware in the Loop (HIL), Software in the Loop (SIL) platforms and CI/CD pipelines for all Geotab telematics and expandability embedded products. This position also oversees Embedded Engineering quality processes to ensure continuous improvement of the development process. 

How you'll make an impact:

  • Lead strategic project to integrate embedded software end to end automated testing.
  • Determines the strategy and execution timeline for the HIL and SIL automation setups, in conjunction with the VP and other senior leaders.
  • Lead team(s) of skilled professionals to develop and implement comprehensive testing and automation strategies including connectivity, vehicle communication (CAN), IMU and GNSS.
  • Create a roadmap for quality improvement initiatives and lead its execution.
  • Ensure automation frameworks and tools are up-to-date and effective in reducing testing cycles by enabling integration and system level requirements to be realized effectively.
  • Accountable for the maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, enabling daily integration with no regression.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality of Embedded Engineering processes and its continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for overall group staffing needs and work with the VP on resource planning and provide forecasting numbers for anticipated net new hires. 
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for embedded systems, such as safety and security standards.
  • Manage, measure and implement an Agile development process for all teams within the group.
  • Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports:
    • Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities.
    • Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting performance (KPAs) and career development planning.
  • Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma with specialization in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years experience in embedded software test automation, including HIL and SIL.
  • 5+ years experience managing and developing teams.
  • 5+ years of required supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks, such as Gitlab, Github, Jenkins, dSPACE, Vector tools.
  • Experience implementing quality processes for Embedded Software development.
  • Success with coaching and development of employees.
  • Experience with agile methods of project management preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to embedded systems.
