The Work


The Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy will be a key partner to the Commercial Strategy Team, leading and supporting high-priority strategic projects that drive EQ Bank’s commercial banking agenda. Working within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to shape and execute strategies that align with EQ Bank’s goals and ambitions in the commercial space. This is an opportunity to work on initiatives that impact EQ Bank’s strategic direction and play a critical role in the future of commercial banking for Canadians. 

The Core Responsibilities!

  • Support Strategic Projects: Drive the development and execution of key strategic initiatives, collaborating with senior leaders to shape EQ Bank’s commercial strategy and support enterprise transformation. 
  • Provide Strategic Analysis: Conduct comprehensive strategic reviews and develop robust recommendations to support decision-making for the Executive Committee and Board. 
  • Support Annual Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of materials for executive and board-level discussions, ensuring alignment with EQ Bank’s commercial banking priorities. 
  • Facilitate Collaboration Across Teams: Act as a catalyst for collaboration, helping to identify growth opportunities, streamline processes, and optimize business performance in commercial banking. 
  • Serve as a Trusted Advisor: Build strong relationships with senior leaders by providing rigorous strategic insights and facilitating trade-off decisions. 
  • Enhance Operational Efficiency: Work with stakeholders to improve processes, solve problems, and drive strategic and operational success across the commercial banking division. 

Let's Talk About You!

  • Educational Background: MBA or comparable graduate degree preferred. 
  • Professional Experience: 6+ years of experience in banking, consulting, or fintech, with a proven track record of strategic and operational success.
  • Skills: Strong critical thinking, analytical abilities, and creative problem-solving skills, with experience in developing and implementing strategic plans. 
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships at the senior level, working seamlessly across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive and board-level presentation materials.
  • Tech Savviness: High proficiency in technology and commitment to EQ Bank’s digital-first strategy. 
  • Interest in working in a highly collaborative and customer-centric environment.
  • Problem solver with sound judgment who takes initiative, accepts ownership and accountability and is able to articulate under pressure or scrutiny from senior executives. 
  • Proven ability to undertake complex analyses whilst presenting simple and clear results and insights relevant to a senior executive audience. 
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into financial models in an accurate and pragmatic manner. 
  • Proven ability to manage engagements and nurture relationships with project teams, providing thought leadership while ensuring the highest quality of deliverables. 
  • Blend of strong management skills with hands-on delivery experience, bringing both strategic and operational value. 
  • Proficient in industry frameworks, standards, and best practices, ensuring solutions align with current benchmarks.

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
