The Senior Manager, Business Planning & Market Intelligence, is responsible for aligning key groups within the MX division to set the quarterly, annual and three year targets based on sound market intelligence. This high energy leader is a great story teller that can articulate business issues, and align the teams towards a solution.
The role oversees and manages the weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual market share tracking, planning and forecast processes. The successful candidate will create forecast scenarios, and ensures that plans are aligned to these scenarios. The role interacts with HQ and ensures reviews are managed in accordance to HQ requirements, and MX team suggestions. The role also monitors key operational processes, to ensure operational teams are working towards the MX quarterly / annual plans.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Business Planning

    • Manages the planning calendars to ensure all teams are aware of their requirements to enable a smooth planning process (MP, Quarterly)

    • Setting Market Share Target for all planning cycles

    • Manage creation of all presentation materials to senior leadership to articulate MX plans

    • Works collaboratively with Sales / Product to produce quarterly and annual plans

    • Works with the business operations teams to ensure all MX level targets are distributed in a timely fashion to the sales / product team

    • Collates feedback from the management team and ensures feedback is incorporated into execution of MX plans

    • Define important KPI’s that align with net new strategies

  • Product/Price Implications

    • Works with PM team to determine line-up strategy (Devices) and creates scenarios that may impact market share

    • Actively influences decisions to ensure product / price / place strategy is conducive to MX execution plan

    • Monitors new product introduction and produces concise reporting to HQ and MX leadership team (Samsung and competitor launches)

    • Maintain a pulse on market activities (market sensing)

  • Market Intelligence

    • Competitive research (Competitors’ price/promotion activities)

    • Weekly sell-out/sell-thru analysis by carrier: Product/Channel/Region

    • Quarterly in-house share analysis (shipments; feeds into SECA model)

    • Provide sound advice to the management team leveraging market intelligence, and market sensing

  • Senior Executive and HQ Interaction

    • Quarterly/Monthly/Weekly/Daily operations as required

    • Executive Reporting

  • SCM Coordination

    • Heavily influences AP2 sell out forecast as it directly impacts Samsung market share

    • Influences cross functional teams to maximize market share potential, and SECA MX revenues

Skills and Qualifications

Education:

  • MBA Preferred

  • Operations and/or Finance training

Knowledge: 

  • Demonstrated analytical skills – forecasting, operations, market research

  • Advanced knowledge of company systems and processes – especially SCM, marketing, pricing, forecasting

  • Product knowledge – mobility, w/technology aptitude

  • Expert level spreadsheet skills

  • Expert PowerPoint skills

  • Industry knowledge: Mobility, Information Technology

Experience: 

  • 5+ years Telecommunication / Consumer Electronics Industry

  • 10+ years related experience preferred (Market Intelligence, Executive presentation materials, and Planning)

  • 10+ years managing and developing teams
