Build the Path Forward

At Path Robotics, we’re attacking a trillion dollar opportunity - doing things that have never been done before to support an industry hurting from a lack of skilled labor. Big, hard problems are what Path tackles every day and our people are our greatest asset to get that job done. Our intelligent, hardworking team of people do the impossible every single day, yet remain incredibly kind, humble, and always ready to support one another.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Machine Learning Engineer expertise in bin picking and pose estimation to join our Robot Learning team to build agentic AI systems for industrial applications. In this role, you’ll leverage your experience in computer vision and deep learning to develop, deploy, and optimize algorithms that enable our robots to accurately identify, locate, and manipulate objects in unstructured environments. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer passionate about solving real-world robotics challenges and advancing robotic perception and manipulation.

This role can be located in our Bay Area or Columbus, Ohio offices.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement machine learning algorithms for bin picking and pose estimation tasks, focusing on unstructured and cluttered environments.
  • Develop robust and scalable solutions for object detection, 3D localization, and object grasping in dynamic environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including robotics engineers and software developers, to integrate perception systems into our robotic platforms.
  • Conduct research and stay up-to-date with advancements in deep learning, computer vision, and robotics to improve system performance.
  • Test, validate, and iterate on models to ensure high levels of accuracy and robustness in real-world conditions.
  • Optimize computational performance to enable real-time processing on hardware-constrained systems

Who You Are

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in computer vision and machine learning, with a focus on robotics applications.
  • Proven track record in publishing at top conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CoRL).
  • Proficiency in developing bin picking and pose estimation algorithms using deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or similar.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++; experience with ROS is a plus.
  • Experience with 3D point cloud processing, depth sensors, and RGB-D cameras for object recognition and localization.
  • Familiarity with reinforcement learning (RL) or other learning-based techniques for robot manipulation.
  • Experience deploying models on embedded systems or hardware-constrained environments.
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques for real-time, high-performance inference on GPUs or edge devices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
