About nesto and Nesto Cloud
nesto is Canada’s leading provider of mortgage technology and financing solutions, managing $73B+ CAD in residential and commercial mortgages, with 1,000+ team members across 12 offices nationwide. You will be working on Nesto Cloud, Canada’s most advanced cloud platform, delivering end-to-end technology solutions for lenders in the digital age.
About the TeamCore AI is building a secure, multi-tenant platform that helps nesto teams ship AI-powered, SaaS-grade decisioning and workflows. The work spans document understanding (OCR), LLM-assisted outputs, evaluation, monitoring, and governance. You’ll work at the intersection of ML and platform engineering, ensuring ML capabilities are reliable, observable, and safe to use with sensitive data.
What You’ll Be Doing- Build and productionize ML/LLM capabilities used in our products’ workflows (e.g., OCR extraction and LLM-assisted outputs).
- Define model and prompt versioning practices so production outputs are traceable to the exact model/prompt/config used.
- Define and maintain evaluation and monitoring for model quality, drift, regressions, and operational reliability (latency, error rates, fallback rates).
- Implement guardrails for LLM and ML use cases (structured outputs, confidence thresholds, safe fallbacks, and human review hooks when needed).
- Integrate models into backend services with strong auditability and PII-safe logging (redaction/minimization, access controls, retention expectations).
- Collaborate with backend and data teams on data interfaces that support repeatable evaluation and production inference.
- Improve developer workflows for experimentation and deployment (reproducible runs, test harnesses, CI checks, and clear runbooks).
- Contribute to governance expectations suitable for regulated environments (documentation, approvals, monitoring plans, and change management).
- Work in an Agile delivery cadence, contributing to planning, estimation, and iterative release.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of ML experience in production (or equivalent) and strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Strong Python and service development skills (FastAPI, pydantic, testing; packaging/CI/CD familiarity).
- Experience with OCR/document AI and/or LLMs in real systems, including practical approaches to evaluation and quality control.
- Comfort working with sensitive data and building safe, observable pipelines (least privilege, audit logging, data minimization).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain tradeoffs across ML, engineering, and product.
- Experience working in Agile teams (iterative delivery, cross-functional collaboration).
- Cloud-native deployment experience (Docker/Kubernetes) and operational monitoring practices.
- Experience building internal tooling for evaluation and review workflows.
- The A-Team: Work alongside high-performing talent in the industry.
- Accelerated Growth: The slope of your learning curve here will be vertical. You will touch more production systems in one year than you would in five years at a bank.
- Top-Tier Coverage: Premium benefits plan fully paid by nesto, including comprehensive insurance and unlimited access to telemedicine and mental health services for you and your family.
- Rest & Recharge: 4 weeks of vacation to ensure you stay at peak performance.
- Best-in-Class Tools: Access to the resources and tech you need to execute without friction.
- Working framework: The environment that makes you productive and enables teamwork (Hybrid model).
At nesto, we believe that creativity and collaboration are the result of a diverse team. We are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and we strongly encourage women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities to apply.
