About the Role
The Supernova Operations team is a high-performing organization that delivers world-class loan origination and servicing experiences for advisors, clients, and enterprise partners. As a non-bank lender operating under state lending licenses, we combine people, process, and technology to deliver exceptional outcomes across the full securities-based lending lifecycle.
From our operations headquarters in Chicago, the Loan Operations team guides advisors and clients through every stage of a securities-based loan, from pre-evaluation and underwriting through closing, servicing, and ongoing collateral monitoring. This team plays a critical role in supporting Supernova’s growth by delivering excellent client experiences, maintaining strong operational discipline, and building scalable capabilities.
The Senior Loan Operations Manager will lead Supernova’s securities-based loan operations function, with responsibility for core lending operations, operational risk and control oversight, process improvement and automation, and partner coordination. This leader will build and scale a high-performing organization that delivers excellent client outcomes, strong service levels, and disciplined execution across underwriting, servicing, and collateral monitoring.
This position requires 7+ years of experience in wealth management and lending, including loan origination and servicing, including significant leadership responsibility. Wealth management experience is a strong plus. The ideal candidate brings deep operational expertise, a strong control mindset, and a track record of building scalable processes, improving execution through data and technology, and leading cross-functional and external partnerships effectively.
Responsibilities
- Core Lending Operations
- Lead loan operations team responsible for the end-to-end execution of Supernova’s securities-based loan operations, including underwriting, loan servicing, collateral monitoring, and daily transaction processing.
- Ensure daily operational work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with processes and service level agreements.
- Lead teams supporting advisors, clients, and enterprise customers throughout the life of the loan, delivering a high-quality and responsive service experience.
- Risk Management and Control Environment
- Establish and maintain a strong control environment across loan operations to reduce operational risk, fraud risk, and errors.
- Ensure underwriting, servicing, and monitoring activities are executed in accordance with company policy, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Oversee exception management, non-standard cases, escalations, and error resolution with sound judgment and appropriate documentation.
- Use data, quality reviews, and trend analysis to identify operational risks, recurring issues, and control gaps, and implement corrective actions.
- Process Improvement, Automation, and Scale
- Build a scalable operating model by identifying and implementing improvements across workflows, team processes, systems, and controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and enhance quality through automation, technology solutions, and AI-enabled tools where appropriate.
- Lead operational improvement initiatives from problem identification through design, implementation, adoption, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Develop and track key performance indicators, dashboards, and reporting to monitor service levels, productivity, quality, risk trends, and capacity.
- Use data to identify bottlenecks, performance opportunities, and emerging issues, and translate insights into measurable operational improvements.
- Funding and Distribution Partner Coordination
- Partner closely with Supernova’s funding partners and distribution partners to improve workflows, clarify responsibilities, and strengthen day-to-day operating effectiveness.
- Identify process breakdowns, handoff issues, and client experience friction points across partners, and lead efforts to resolve them.
- Coordinate with partners to implement operational improvements, manage exceptions, resolve errors, and improve service consistency.
- Build strong working relationships with external partners to support effective collaboration, clear communication, and strong execution.
- Leadership and Business Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team with a focus on quality, accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Establish team goals, performance standards, and resource plans aligned with business objectives.
- Prepare business plans, budgets, and operating goals for the function, and support cost discipline while enabling growth and service quality.
- Contribute to the long-term strategy, structure, and operating model for the loan operations organization.
- Serve as a key partner to internal stakeholders by providing operational insight, recommendations, and execution support for strategic initiatives.

- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related discipline required
- Experience
- 7+ years of experience in wealth management and lending, including loan origination and servicing.
- Experience with securities-based lending or other collateralized lending products strongly preferred
- Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated success improving processes and building scale through workflow redesign, automation, and technology implementation
- Strong data orientation, with experience using metrics and reporting to manage performance and identify risks and opportunities
- Proven ability to strengthen controls and reduce errors, fraud risk, and operational failures
- Experience working with external funding partners and distribution partners to improve process execution and resolve issues
- Strong people leadership, coaching, and performance management experience
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially in transaction processing, loan accounting, and operational issue resolution
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Financial industry knowledge of investment securities; experience working with advisors and clients preferred
- Experience with FIS a plus
