The base salary range listed for this role reflects the expected compensation for candidates located in Canada. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. This role is also eligible for additional incentive compensation based on performance. Job Description

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing and leading the delivery of customer infrastructure solutions within the professional services organization. This role develops implementation plans, mentors delivery engineers, and ensures successful project execution.


To be successful in this role, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer must have a strong work ethic and a hands-on approach to customer interaction and time management. Robust interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first approach are essential. While teamwork is expected, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment is crucial.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the pre-sales engineering team to validate the solution.
  • Lead architectural design and planning for customer projects.
  • Develop deployment plans and technical documentation for mid-level engineers.
  • Review and approve deployments performed by mid-level engineers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers and customers to align solutions with requirements.
  • Participate in customer architecture discussions and technical reviews.
  • Maintain required vendor certifications.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 45% of the time for post-sales implementation at customer sites. 

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in an MSP, VAR, ISP, NOC, or enterprise IT environment. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to positively influence customers by proactively identifying potential issues and steering them toward effective solutions.
  • Extensive experience with Dell/EMC storage solutions (PowerScale/Isilon, PowerStore, PowerVault, Unity)
  • Experience implementing and maintaining VMware/Broadcom, HyperV, Nutanix, or Proxmox environments and technologies.
  • Experience with physical installation of rack-mounted equipment, including labeling, documentation, and cable management.
  • Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and supporting critical platforms related to business workloads.
  • Ability to troubleshoot configuration, software, and infrastructure problems using advanced tools (Wireshark, Windows Sysinternals, Fiddler, Netcat).
  • Familiarity with Dell and Cisco ToR networking technologies.
  • Experience with networking/distributed computing technologies and services (DNS, L2/L3 networking, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPN).
  • Ability to develop and recommend innovative, automated, and scalable solutions to both non-technical and technical audiences.
  • Extensive experience creating and maintaining technical documentation (rack elevations, wiring diagrams, network diagrams, site surveys, audit reports).
  • Experience with hyper-converged systems (VxRail/VMware vSAN, Nutanix, Azure Stack).
  • Knowledge of various backup/replication and storage technologies (Veeam, VMware vSAN, NetApp, vSphere Replication, RP4VM).
  • Ability to travel to customer locations for onsite support or hardware installations.
  • Willingness to work off hours for planned maintenance, project implementations, or unplanned emergencies.


Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience remotely administering medium or larger-sized data center environments. Scripting experience in commonly used languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Perl) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Dell/EMC Storage Solutions, particularly Power Protect Data Manager, Data Domain.
