The Senior Software Engineer leads implementation of complex features and epics, owns technical design end to end, and multiplies the pod's output — both by mentoring other engineers and by modeling what AI-first engineering actually looks like in practice.
What You'll Do:
Lead implementation of medium-to-large complexity features or epics, decomposing the work into tasks other engineers can pick up.
Own technical design for self-contained or multi-service solutions, including proposing and diagramming the approach.
Actively mentor Intermediate and junior engineers, and model AI-first practice (shared CLAUDE.md, skills library) so it spreads through the pod rather than staying one person's habit.
Lead technical discovery sessions, act as technical SME in client conversations, and contribute to pre-sales.
Feature & Epic Implementation (~45%)
Architecture & Solution Design (~20%)
Mentorship & Code Review (~20%)
Client & Stakeholder Engagement (~15%)
What You Bring:
5–8 years of experience, including leading feature- or epic-level work.
A track record of using AI coding tools (Claude Code or equivalent) to materially speed up delivery — you can speak concretely to how, not just that you use one.
Strong system design, testing, and mentorship instincts.
Comfort engaging directly with clients and stakeholders on technical topics.
Nice to Have
Experience standardizing engineering practices or contributing to a shared config/skills library.
Experience with agentic or GenAI systems in production.
What Success Looks Like
Complex Feature/Epic Leadership: Leads complex features and epics through to delivery with a consistently low post-deployment defect rate.
AI-Accelerated Technical Design: Turns requirements into approved technical designs in a fraction of the time it used to take, using AI-assisted design and prototyping — the weeks-to-days compression this role is expected to drive for the pod.
Reusable IP & AltaForge Contribution: Ships or evolves reusable components into AltaForge or shared libraries that see strong adoption elsewhere — moving the AltaForge Clients and Same-Agent-Across-Clients north stars.
Mentorship Impact: Runs regular mentoring/pairing sessions with clear, visible skill growth in mentees.
Client Confidence: Leads technical discovery/SME sessions that consistently earn strong client satisfaction — supporting USD Revenue % and Recurring License Sales % where the engagement is US-based or license-oriented.
