We are searching for a Senior Financial Analyst to be in Toronto, ON.

Purpose:

As a Financial Business Partner at J&J Innovative Medicine Canada, you will be partnering with the Commercial Organization (Marketing, Selling, and Medical Affairs) with your finance expertise and ensuring compliance with our financial policies. You will play a pivotal role as a controller for both, Sales and OPEX, partnering to reach those goals, and providing business performance insights. You will collaborate with business partners during Supply & Demand Reviews , ensuring the forecast is balanced and providing valuable insights to senior leadership. Your role will also involve diligent OPEX controlling support, assisting your business partners in managing Purchase Orders, ensuring data quality in financials, and maintaining compliance with financial policies. This involves diligent monitoring and control of expenditures, ensuring accuracy and reliability in financial reporting. Your role will involve fostering strong business partnerships with cross-functional areas, understanding external trends, and providing analytical support for key decision making. You will also support ad hoc projects for cost savings and process improvement.

You will be responsible for:

• Provide accurate, timely, insightful, and meaningful financial analysis to business partners helping to actively identify risks & opportunities and understand & manage P&L variances.
• Represent and support assigned brands during Demand Reviews, leveraging financial analysis to provide accurate forecasts, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvement in demand planning processes.
• Provide diligent OPEX controlling support by analyzing performance versus budget, identifying variances, and collaborating with business partners to ensure alignment with overall financial objectives.
• Develop strong business partnerships with cross-functional areas including Sales, Marketing, Access, and Medical Affair teams to support the business in delivering financial commitments and execution of business strategies.
• Follow and understand external trends to enable robust discussion on potential risks and opportunities.
• Provide analytical support to the Business partners with respect to enable key decision making.
• Help educate and make better informed decisions with Business Partners to drive value creation for the organization.
• Support ad hoc projects, processes and requests as required including projects to help identify, plan and execute cost savings / avoidance and process improvement projects.
• Ensure that the principles and elements of the J&J Credo, business policies, Healthcare Compliance, Regulatory, GAAP, and Sarbanes Oxley are adhered to in all aspects of the role.
• Collaborate with Global Services (GS) and BU Center of Excellence (CoE) for month end closing process, including input on business specific reserves and operating expenses.

•Constructively challenge business partners when necessary. This includes making data driven recommendations, providing alternative viewpoints, and ensuring actions align with the company’s goals
• Develop a deep understanding of leading indicators relevant to the business, allowing us to anticipate trends, make informed decisions, and provide strategic advice to business partners
• Ensure strict compliance with our financial policies, including meeting SOX deadlines and collaborating seamlessly with auditors during audits
• Active participation in BvA meetings with business partners and senior management, as much as possible in person
• Proactive in identifying inefficiencies in existing processes and take the initiative to propose and implement improvements by adopting new technologies and eliminating unnecessary steps
• Seek opportunities to collaborate with peers, sharing knowledge, and learning from each other. This includes being open to feedback, participating in projects, and supporting others in achieving their goals, joining ERG groups
• Become reference and provide coaching to junior professionals in the team
• Pro-active SAP and Finance Systems learning. Strong engagment and commitment to adopt new technologies and processes
• Regular update of Red book (Role R&R, DTP) so that the next successor can seamlessly transition
• Demonstrating self-reliance and the ability to work autonomously is important
• Building strong relationships with local and global business partners, ensuring interactions in person where possible
• Active participation in team meetings, ensuring attendance in person as much as possible

• J&J Flex-Work policy - 3 days on-site per week with the option to work up to 2 days remote

Qualifications / Requirements:

•A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably a major in Finance or Business. Accounting/finance designation is an asset.
• Accounting/finance designation preferred.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience is required, preferably in a commercial financial planning & analysis environment.
• Experience with revenue recognition and Gross to Net accounting process and financial controls
• Strong technical skills with the ability to quickly learn new business software tools and applications is required
• SAP or strong competencies in similar ERP systems is required.
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills to include formulas (VLOOKUPS) and pivot tables is required
• Individual must work well in a dynamic team environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent analytical, conceptual, communication and interpersonal skills
• Continuous improvement mindset with ability to adhere to tight deadlines while autonomously collaborating with business partners.
