Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, this role will work closely with the management team and key business partners to develop forecasts and financial plans on a monthly and annual basis as well as provide on-going analysis of the results to support the business. The role is dynamic and incorporates a number of skills including; financial analysis, strategic analysis, business modeling, metric development and report generation. The role will work closely with key stakeholders in our home office and the FP&A and Accounting teams across the organization
JOB DESCRIPTION:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare monthly production, rate & retention reports and monthly financial analysis pack with supporting variance analysis
  • Assist the business in the preparation of the quarterly business performance review
  • Execution of the annual Plan using Workday Adaptive Planning to produce the Canadian P&L which includes premium, reinsurance, acquisition and expenses
  • Use of performance metrics to showcase insights on plan results to executive leadership team
  • Run monthly forecast process including projections for premiums, reinsurance, losses, acquisition cost and expenses
  • Develop performance metrics and assist management by highlighting key business drivers
  • Provide training to users and business as needed
  • Recommend process improvements, and ensure that the enhanced process meets Internal and external Audit controls
  • Participate in projects and provide ad hoc variance analytics as required


SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A university degree in finance, business or data analytics
  • CPA accounting designation preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A/ financial reporting/ data analytics
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience with Workday and Adaptive is considered an asset
  • Experience and knowledge of insurance is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to conceptualize details and develop action plans for problem solving and decision making
