Role Title
Senior Financial Analyst (12-Month Contract)
Purpose of role
Reporting to the Sr. Manager Finance, Finance Business Partner, this position is responsible for providing value-added management reporting, expense management, budgeting, planning and financial analysis support at an Enterprise level.
Job Description
Key responsibilities/accountabilities
- Coordinate expense budgeting, forecasting and presentation of analysis.
- Expense reporting and analysis to support management of direct and fully allocated expenses and expense overruns.
- Support the preparation of the annual expense study.
- Prepare Sales planning models to support the NA Sales team and the calculation of sales volume metrics for operational planning.
- Enhance analysis of underlying expense drivers and fixed/variable analysis.
- Support periodic reporting and analysis of financial results.
- Support the preparation of Monthly/Quarterly Expense Reviews/ELT reporting and KPI Dashboard.
- Develop and maintain operational knowledge of the primary business functions (IT, Insurance Operations, Sales & Distribution) to provide insights and recommendations regarding business processes and performance management.
- Establish proactive and collaborative working relationships with key business stakeholders, other areas of Finance, Actuarial, Capital Management, and other key cross functional areas within Foresters.
- Support the month end close process (journal entries, accruals etc.) for business areas as required.
- Ad Hoc requests as required
Key qualifications/competencies
- University degree in Business and a professional accounting designation (CA/CPA) or MBA preferably with concentration in Finance.
- 3-4 years financial reporting, analysis and planning experience.
- Experience in a life insurance/financial services organization is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and high degree of independence and initiative
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to establish effective partnering relationships cross functionally within the Division and across the organization.
- Excellent ability to multi-task, work under tight timelines and prioritize deliverables to meet deadlines while maintaining keen attention to details to ensure accuracy.
- Strong analytical and technical skills; advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot tables, Vlook Up, If statements etc.) and other Microsoft applications. Knowledge of Power BI/SQL is an asset.
- Ability to work equally well in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
