🚀 Senior Domain Architect -  Business to Customer

🕒 Full-Time – Permanent

Location: UK-based hybrid role, Occasional travel to site.

The Senior Domain Architect holds the primary strategic technology relationships across Centrica B2C businesses, acting as a trusted advisor who shapes and maintains cross‑portfolio technology roadmaps, sets architectural direction, and identifies future capability needs. Operating with a forward‑looking, strategically focused mandate, the role establishes a clear architectural vision for the domain and ensures this vision is translated into executable direction across change initiatives. Day to day, the architect partners closely with Product and Platform engineering leaders to influence priorities, align technology decisions to business outcomes, and maintain coherence across the technology estate. They own and evolve the reference architectures, and target states, providing guidance and trade‑off analysis that informs delivery. They drive governance, manage architectural risk, and ensure alignment with security, regulatory, and strategic platform standards. The role also champions innovation, leveraging automation and AI‑enabled tooling to enhance architectural quality and accelerate design cycles, while mentoring Solution Architects and engineers to uplift capability, strengthen architectural maturity, and ensure consistent application of standards across teams.

Day to day, the architect partners closely with Product and Platform leaders to influence priorities, align technology decisions to business outcomes, and maintain coherence across the technology estate. The role also champions innovation, leveraging automation and AI‑enabled tooling to enhance architectural quality and accelerate design cycles, while mentoring other Architects and engineers to uplift capability, strengthen architectural maturity, and ensure consistent application of standards across teams.

The Day to Day:

The role of the B2C Senior Domain Architect supports the Retail pillar succeed with its business priorities and strategic technology alignment.

  • Strategic Partnering & Domain Leadership - maintaining the primary strategic technology relationships with counterparts across Centrica Home. Maintain a forward‑looking view of the B2C landscape, ensuring domain priorities remain aligned, coherent and commercially relevant.
  • Cross‑Portfolio Roadmap Ownership -

Shape, maintain, and continuously refine cross‑portfolio technology roadmaps for B2C brands. Ensure roadmaps reflect the Retail Technology strategy while enabling each brand’s specific propositions and operational goals. Translate this roadmap into clear, actionable guidance for change programmes, ensuring investment choices and delivery plans are architecturally sound and strategically aligned.

  • Architectural Decision Support & Trade‑Off Analysis -

Lead option evaluations and design assessments, articulating trade‑offs across cost, complexity, customer impact, delivery risk, strategic alignment and long‑term maintainability.

  • Governance, Risk & Compliance Leadership -

Act as the escalation point for design risk, ensuring decisions remain compliant with security, regulatory, and technology guardrails. Apply and promote architectural quality to maintain integrity and consistency across the domain.

  • Innovation, Automation & AI‑Enabled Architecture -

Continuously assess new technologies, patterns and approaches that could strengthen the B2C experience or reduce operational cost and complexity. Use automation and agentic AI tooling to accelerate analysis, design assurance, documentation and decision support.

  • Coaching & Architectural Uplift -

Provide strong day‑to‑day coaching to Architects and wider technologists, ensuring architectural standards, patterns and design principles are consistently understood and applied. Support the build capability within squads and platforms by sharing insights, reusable patterns and domain knowledge that raise architectural maturity.

What we need from you:

  • Experience delivering solution and domain architectures across multiple projects or platforms, ideally in a consumer business.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and their alignment with technology solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to plan and implement mid to long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Experience with architectural governance and compliance in a large organisation.
  • Demonstrates the safe and responsible use of AI tools, with clear knowledge of when AI use is appropriate and strong awareness of accuracy, bias and compliance. Bringing the ability to design and reuse prompt templates to support consistent, high quality workflow outputs, and skilled in using AI to triage, classify and analyse information within Centrica policy guardrails.
  • Strong ability to recognise higher risk scenarios and escalate to governance or security as needed. Alongside this, showing proficiency in enterprise AI copilots, knowledge assistants and AI enhanced productivity tools.
