The Senior FPA Director is responsible for the Financial Reporting, Controlling and Planning for Corby, a proudly Canadian company affiliated with Pernod Ricard, the #2 Wine and Spirits company in the world.

 

This role provides the strategic business narrative for internal and external communication, across see-through and statutory business perimeters and encompasses the co-lead on Beyond Budget, Collaborative Business Partnering and S&OP streams. It also includes the preparation and proactive support on strategic business meetings (Quarterly Business Review, Yearly Business update with the Board, quarterly townhall, Best Nxt presentation, etc.). It is also responsible for strategic planning and financial scenario modelling, including portfolio management, investment allocations, long-term financial strategy articulation and M&A modelling, coupled with active support for potential acquisitions and divestments.

 

Furthermore, The Senior FP&A Director at Corby is also accountable for the preparation of Statutory Financial Disclosures (Quarterly press releases, Management Discussions & Analysis, Audit Committee Deck and Annual Report - Finance) and the preparation of Investor presentations (Earning calls, Investors’ roadshow deck), both used by CEO/CFO as part of Investor Relation strategy. In addition, the role implies some active support on feeding the Projects’ update quarterly board meeting. Finally, this position encompasses in-depth business partnering with Marketing team with recurring and ad hoc analyses (Brand P&L analysis with insights, Brand Summits presentation, Innovation P&Ls, as well as Advertisement & Promotion Budget monitoring).   

 

What you'll do

System Implementation & Optimization

  • Canada project lead for implementation for Polaris EPM solution (Tagetik) and Essbase (Actual and Planning).
  • Responsible for tools and processes for financial reporting and forecasting including data cubes, Power BI models etc 
  • Finance 4.0 – Make sure FP&A processes and tools evolve in line with Global Finance 4.0 roadmap.

Strategic Planning & Delivery

  • Financial articulation of the Corporate strategy (long & short term) in collaboration with the executive leadership team.
  • Deliver financial metrics that will help business leaders implement nimble business strategies
  • Provide financial planning for the assessment and execution of strategic opportunities including M&A for acquisitions or disposals, representation agreement, service agreement, distribution agreement, due diligence exercises etc 
  • Co-lead the preparation of 3-year plan (Long term strategic & financial projection).
  • Co-lead Beyond Budget and S&OP streams

Financial Reporting & Controlling

  • Management of the Company’s Profit and Loss results against target or plan 
  • Plan and direct reporting of monthly financial results, forecasts and budgets for external reporting and internal management purposes: 
  • Ensure the integrity (accuracy, completeness, timeliness) of reported financials, while explaining and illustrating variances and drivers of performance 
  • Monitor, evaluate and advise on operational performance compared to budgets and forecasts
  • Key financial liaison for collaborative business planning including forecasting from market through depletion, to shipments and financials 
  • In close liaison with the Hiram Walker Centre of Excellence, complete Financial reporting obligations for Corby Spirit and Wine Ltd including Management Discussion & Analysis and other public disclosures.
  • Prepare audit committee deck and present financial performance to the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare draft of quarterly press release to be discussed with CEO
  • Support preparation of Annual Report (Financial pages)
  • Ensure internal financial controls over reporting are in compliance with Sox and 52-109 guidelines 

Investor Relation Strategy

  • Support CFO in the External Financial communication strategy by proposing contents and proper KPIs for each different audience.
  • Preparation of Investor decks and Earning call, including elaboration of scripts

Business Partnering

  • Deliver Financial insights to Marketing team through Brand P&L analysis.
  • Support Innovation Gate process by providing Financial Feasibility analysis
  • A&P Budget monitoring
  • Lead the preparation of Business Presentations for different Stakeholders and audiences (Quarterly Business Reviews, Strategic Plans, Townhalls, etc.)

 

Team Management and Leadership

  • Direct Reports – 3 Manager FPAs, 1 Sr Analysts FPA, 2 Analysts FPA, 1 intern

Education

  • University Education / Master of Business / Master of Science
  • Professional accounting designation seen as a plus (CA/CMA/CGA/CPA)

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, consulting and/or corporate finance in a multinational business (preferably within the spirits and wine industry or similar CPG companies)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong financial acumen including financial statements (cash flow, balance sheet, income statement)
  • Strong financial & business modeling and framework development skills
  • Excellent analytical abilities, problem-solving skills and business acumen
  • Strong ability to prioritize and focus efforts on driving results, first and foremost
  • Experience with dashboarding in BI tools (either directly or through BI partners)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience leading a team with care and resilience
  • Experienced project manager (preferably with systems implementation experience)
  • Previous experience with Power BI, Essbase, Smartview, Hyperion, or Oracle based reporting systems an asset
