What you’ll be doing

CIBC’s Communications and Public Affairs (C&PA) department is responsible for managing all internal and external corporate-level communications to team members, shareholders, clients, media, and community organizations. As the Senior Director you will be responsible for strategic communications planning, execution and measurement to support People, Culture & Brand (PC&B) programs and initiatives, including Human Resources, Client Experience, and Brand & Marketing. The Senior Director also supports internal and external communications for the Senior Executive Vice-President (SEVP) and Group Head, PC&B, including communications and events.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.  You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategic Minded – You’ll build and execute on communication strategies in support of key PC&B programs and initiatives that impact CIBC team members and leaders, working closely with program leaders and teams to develop and execute communication strategies, plans, and events that foster a solid understanding of CIBC’s strategy, programs, and offerings. In addition, you will work with the SEVP and Group Head, PC&B, and her senior leadership team on communications that foster a solid understanding of CIBC’s priorities.
  • Relationship Management – You’ll create trusted advisor relationships and influence with the SEVP and Group Head, PC&B, PC&B leadership team, and program owners. Additionally, you’ll partner with the C&PA team and various business partners, including Intranet, Corporate Events, Sponsorship & Community Investment, Media Relations and Brand & Marketing to manage highly visible enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Leadership – You’re an inspirational and authentic team member and leader who collaborates and manages relationships with executives and senior leaders for purposes of developing and implementing internal and external communications strategies, key messages and related communication development and deployment plans as well as presentations. You will lead, coach and develop a team that will execute against a significant volume of internal and external communications material that supports CIBC’s strategic priority to enable, simplify and protect the bank.
