Job Description:

Overview:

Seeking a Sr Professional Dev/Ops Engineer responsible to provide subject-matter expertise in the automation of Dev/Ops environments utilizing CI/CD (continuous integration and continuous deployment) methodologies and practices to speed up and improve software development on a mainframe environment. The ideal candidate should possess Senior level expertise to assist designing the system, participate in installation, monitor its functioning, and provide guidance to the team on its use. A foundational understanding of Mainframes is essential. Also required to have experience with one or more scripting languages like Python, Perl and Shell. Encouraged to have experience with source code management tools like GitLab, CI/CD pipeline tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins and particularly Linux/Unix experience. The successful candidate should possess a strong willingness to learn emerging technologies including Zowe, API ML and CLI.

Primary Function:

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Installation, configuration, and support an advanced Dev/Ops automation environment.

Utilize CI/CD methodologies in support in a Dev/Ops automation environment

Integration of mainframe and current CI/CD using scripting languages

Diagnostics analysis within DEV/Ops automation software and the platforms where they exits.

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • 84 months of experience as a Dev/Ops automation engineer

  • 60+ months experience of Installation and configuration of Dev/Ops software.

  • 60+ months experience of support and administration of CI/CD Methodologies.

  • 60+ months experience of integration of software into a Distributed or Mainframe environment.

  • 60+ months experience with Application Program Interface implementation and support.

  • 48+ months of supporting software requiring security compliance and audit readiness methodologies.

  • 48+ months of practical experience using a scripting language like GitHub or Jenkins.

  • 48+ months of experience with Linux/Unix operating systems

  • 24+ months of experience with hands on work in a Mainframe environment

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of a given computing platform and relevant marketplace; can speak with authority, e.g., on trends, best practices, compliance practices, etc.

People and Communication Skills:

  • Ability to listen to client requirements and organize them into a list of business needs and objectives

  • Ability to provide written communication back to the project manager and customer regarding build and integrate instructions, assigned task status, and ability to communicate through channels such as knowledge transfer instructions to run the solution after implementation is complete.

  • Ability to follow a communication plan established by the project manager

  • Ability to document clearly all the aspects listed above and ability to clearly communicate in writing project statuses, task status and communicate in writing build and integration results.

  • Desire to learn emerging technologies including API ML, CLI and integrating in multiple Operating systems and apply them to customer environments.

Key Requirements:

A senior consultant will have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in IT. Minimum Education: bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

You must have some documentable mainframe experience.
