How you'll make an impact
Join an innovative team that uses a broad range of AWS tools, technologies and platforms to provide data and analytics solutions that enable end users to perform their tasks.
As a Senior Developer, you’ll develop FCC’s technical solutions, including designing, developing, testing and deploying code. You’ll be responsible for delivering informal leadership while ensuring complex and strategic components of a solution meet all business requirements.

What you'll do
- Analyze and develop new code, including automation, integration and unit tests
- Utilize frameworks and patterns (primarily in AWS), infrastructure as code (primarily CDK) and automation
- Collaborate on a solution’s architectural direction and be responsible for solution design and implementation
- Ensure technical solutions and system integrations are developed and maintained in the most efficient and effective manner
- Implement code fixes and support user testing
- Participate in and/or lead group design and coding sessions
- Participate in and/or lead data processing application design sessions
- Participate in and/or lead the design and development of data models and analytics
- Actively contribute to code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members
- Explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical personnel
- Collaborate with analytics users and ML/data science specialists using cloud native development.
What you'll bring to the team
Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering
Minimum seven years of software development experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
Expert-level proficiency in some or all the following AWS technologies: AWS Glue, Step Functions, S3, Redshift, Quicksight, Lambda, Eventbridge and AppFlow
Expert level proficiency in some or all the following languages: Python, PySpark, Typescript and SQL
Proven knowledge of common design patterns and when to apply them, such as object-oriented programming (OOP) and functional programming (FP) paradigms
Experience optimizing design to enable business value creation through analytics
Demonstrated experience with code reviews, application design and system integration
Proven troubleshooting skills
Preferred qualifications
Architectural and data modelling expertise
Data modelling experience in both Data Vault 2.0 and Dimensional (Star Schema) methodologies
Experience coaching and mentoring peers (informal leadership)
Experience building automation and integration tests and designing easy-to-use frameworks
Lending business knowledge, ideally within Canadian agriculture
