Calipsa, which is part of MSI, is aiming at automating CCTV video monitoring. We are building a cloud based platform that automatically connects with cameras, processes and analyzes their content and only forward actionable alerts to our customers. We are working with the biggest security companies in the world actively monitoring more than 25 thousands sites around the world. We are expecting to massively grow the number of cameras and traffic on our platform in the near future.
You will be part of a focused team who will be responsible for database design, architecture, configuration, maintenance and support. Our platform is scaling to support millions of cameras all around the world. You have a strong sense of ownership and will have the opportunity to make a significant positive impact for our products.
Job Description
Being a critical member of the Infrastructure team as a database administrator overseeing production and non-production databases. Our technology stack is hosted in the cloud and we use managed database solutions wherever suitable. Collaborate with software development teams to design data management and governance protocols, manage the data lifecycle, architect database infrastructure for high availability and scalability. Continuously monitor, evaluate, tune, and maintain to keep high uptime and performance. Our customers expect exceptional performance and uptime from our platform, and the database is at the core of our software.
The team is highly distributed across the globe and in different time zones, you will need to be able to thrive in a remote work environment with asynchronous communication methods. Being highly detail-oriented and organized will be a requirement.
Participation in an on-call rotation for incidents is required. Occasional off-hours work may be required for planned maintenance and escalations.

Proficient knowledge of relational database systems, Structured Query Language, relational data modeling and data management principles

Proven ability to design and maintain production databases running at high performance and throughput levels with maximum uptime

Knowledge of data replication techniques and processes, and cloud computing platforms (e.g., SaaS, IaaS or PaaS)

Excellent problem solving and housekeeping skills

Comfortable working both independently and being a team player

Excellent communication skills in a virtual remote work environment
