About the Role:

CrowdStrike is looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join our growing Data Science Platform Engineering Team. You will be responsible for helping to build globally distributed, fault-tolerant, and highly scalable ecosystems used by data scientists, analysts, and threat hungers. You will partner with many teams across the company to provide compelling, self-service, automated solutions for challenging and high value projects. 

CrowdStrike is a computer security company, but we do not require candidates for this role to have prior security industry experience. We will mentor and train in security topics as needed. We do expect a strong interest in CrowdStrike's mission and a willingness to engage with the needs of our product teams and customers.

The scale of our systems and data are approaching Exabytes in size. Experience with extremely large-scale systems, including DevSecOps patterns, practices, and standards are important for this work.

What You'll Do:

  • Innovate with data science platform technology to accelerate & democratize data science.

  • Focus on scalability, and cost effectiveness.

  • Implementing observability and provide in-depth analysis to prevent, detect, and zero-touch recover from service issues

  • Model, normalize, factor, and catalog data and metadata semantically for discoverability and rapid, repeatable data set creation

  • Employ and help evolve established CrowdStrike tools and services to build solutions for detecting and countering targeted cyber assaults.

  • Design and maintain data pipelines, and contribute to the training and implementation of custom models.

  • Collaborate across various teams to brainstorm, define, and devise solutions.

  • Commit to ongoing learning and self-improvement.

  • Emphasize top-tier, emerging coding quality by adhering to good practices, rigorous testing, and thorough DevSecOps Observability.

  • Work within a collaborative and agile team environment.

  • Contribute to mentoring fellow engineers across a spectrum of technologies and also absorb knowledge from them.

  • Constantly explore ways to refine product design, data models, knowledge models, user experience, performance, and reliability.

  • Own your work with autonomy, end to end: develop, test, deploy and monitor your changes.

  • Thrive in an environment that values trust.

What You'll Need:

  • 7+ years of Golang AND Python experience

  • Prior work experience with (very) big data and microservices

  • Understanding scalability and large-scale distributed systems e.g. sharding, partitioning, and concurrency

  • A thorough understanding of engineering practices from appropriate testing paradigms to effective peer code reviews and resilient architecture.

  • The skills to meet your commitments on time and produce high-quality software that is  tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative, and iterative programming environment.

  • Any STEM undergraduate degree

Tech Stack (not mandatory to know everything; a robust learning capacity is essential):

  • Docker

  • Kubernetes

  • AWS, GCP, or MaaS

  • Kafka, Cassandra, Spark

  • ElasticSearch

  • Terraform, Chef, or Ansible

Bonus Points:

  • Existing exposure to AWS and distributed systems

  • Experience with Language Models, Data Science, and Data Engineering

  • Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence fields

CrowdStrike, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position in the U.S. is $110,000 - $180,000 per year + variable/incentive compensation + equity + benefits. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location.
