In this role you would be working as a member of the Data Modeling team and collaborating extensively with other functions within Data Analytics—heavily our BI and Data Engineering functions—as well as with a variety of internal stakeholders. This role is best filled by a seasoned data modeler with broad experience designing, developing, and maintaining data models to fuel enterprise dashboards and democratize data insights.
You'll be responsible for:

Designing and developing data models to support business intelligence and analytics needs.

Writing modular, reusable, and efficient SQL queries for data transformation

Implementing and maintaining data quality tests to ensure accuracy and reliability of downstream metrics.

Working with large and complex data sets to solve difficult problems by applying well-established techniques.

Collaborating with those who are developing dashboards to design future-proof data models and subsequently working closely with data engineers to promote these models into production.

Leveraging a variety of technologies including different cloud data warehouses and common tools within the data ecosystem.

Providing thought leadership on emerging trends and best practices in data modeling and their potential applications to the business.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data-driven insights are incorporated into decision-making processes.

Learning new approaches, tools, and techniques and sharing them with the team.
You bring:

Solid understanding of dbt (our primary framework) and professional experience leveraging it to develop and operationalize data models for downstream analytics.

A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field; our teams bring a diverse set of backgrounds and perspectives.

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data modeling or a related field with a proven track record of delivering data-driven insights.

Deep knowledge of data modeling concepts and best practices.

Experience developing data models in collaboration with a larger team and leveraging Git as a version control system.

Experienced with SQL (any dialect) including advanced concepts (exposure to PySpark is an asset).

Strong knowledge accessing and manipulating large amounts of data, across a variety of formats and with a variety of tools, and experience troubleshooting data pipelines / queries—you understand typical bottlenecks and trade-offs.

Exposure to cloud computing fundamentals and prior experience in the financial services industry would be an asset.

Possess excellent written and oral communication skills and comfortable interfacing with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds; we interact with both technical and non-technical audiences and value clear communication and effective storytelling.
