What we're looking for:

We’re expanding our Product Engineering team and are looking for our first ever Senior Data Engineer to join us! As the first Senior Data Engineer at Phoenix Digital, you’ll be able to shape what our data ecosystem looks like. You’ll work closely with our cofounders and cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that help connect and optimize pipelines from advertisers to drive marketing spend decisions. Our ideal Senior Data Engineer combines strong technical expertise with a deep understanding of data flows that influence performance marketing and ad attribution. At Phoenix Digital, you won’t just move data — you’ll help shape how advertising data powers smarter decisions across our business.

What you’ll do:
  • Build and optimize scalable, reliable data pipelines and architectures from multiple sources including PostgreSQL database, our BI layer in Lightdash, ad performance data from Supermetrics, and other internal metrics.

  • Create clean, modular data models that serve analytics, product insights, and machine learning use cases.

  • Partner with engineers, clinicians, analysts, and product managers to make sure our data infrastructure supports real-world health outcomes.

  • Ensure our systems are secure and designed with the highest standards of data integrity.

  • Mentor others, advocate for modern tooling and best practices, and help scale a culture of data excellence.

What you’ll bring:
  • 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.

  • An analytical business mindset with a deep understanding of how to export and structure data for self-serve analytics, reporting, and experimentation.

  • Proven experience designing data models and ETL/ELT pipelines at scale.

  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with tools like DBT for transformation, Apache Airflow for automating distribution, and Looker Tableau (or similar BI tools) for analytics.

  • A solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).

  • Nice to have:

    • Familiarity with modern data workflows and BI tools such as Lightdash.

    • Experience in healthcare, telehealth, or digital health.

    • Experience with advertiser pipelines to drive marketing spend decisions.

Why Work at Phoenix?
  • A Rewarding Mission: Through our asynchronous care model, Phoenix is reimagining patient-centric care for Canadians across the country by making diagnoses and treatment delivery faster, more accessible, and completely discreet.

  • Impact & Autonomy: You’ll work directly with passionate, experienced leaders who’ve seen the ups and downs of building a business and genuinely care about your growth. You won’t just execute — you’ll help shape the future of Phoenix and Raven.

  • Collaborative In-Office Culture: Based in the heart of downtown Toronto, our HQ team comes together on-site five days a week to build fast and push what’s possible. We love the fast feedback loops, spontaneous brainstorms, and actually knowing the people we work with. Bonus points if you’re into the occasional foosball tournament or have strong opinions about the best lunch spot in the neighbourhood.

  • Competitive Pay, Real Benefits: Our compensation bands are backed by real market data, so offers are competitive and fair. Our benefits package includes standard healthcare coverage, a remote-first holiday season, and holistic wellbeing support — such as a wellbeing allowance and flexible additional time off to care for loved ones, support mental health, observe meaningful religious and cultural holidays, or when life just happens.
