Job Description:

We are looking for a seasoned, motivated communicator to lead the Communications strategy and delivery of Group Head (Canadian Personal Bank) executive communications, by articulating a thoughtful and compelling voice for the leader that will advance the business and the Bank's narrative in a differentiated way.

The successful candidate will bring a diverse skill set, combining superior writing capabilities, experience creating executive communications that inspire colleagues, and attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders, and experience navigating a large corporate environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Act as a trusted communications advisor and strategic sounding board, helping shape narratives, refine messaging and guide conversations on content, tone and stakeholder impact.
  • Through exceptional storytelling, work with a team focused on helping to shape and elevate executive voice in ways that inspire colleagues, reaffirm the business and the Bank's differentiated culture, instill confidence in our strategy, and position TD as a leader on issues that matter to our clients, colleagues, and communities.
  • Partner effectively with colleagues and business partners to understand business priorities and how they should inform Group Head messages and engagements.
  • Be a strategic partner to support the delivery of key internal events including leadership conference, town hall and business updates, with responsibility for communications planning, content and messaging development and execution support where required.
  • Oversee external thought leadership and LinkedIn content strategy and development.
  • Demonstrate understanding of how business decisions, issues and announcements may be perceived internally, externally and by media stakeholders.

Key qualifications and experience required:

  • Experience partnering closely with senior executives and executive office stakeholders, including collaboration with Group Head offices and Special Assistants/Chiefs of Staff to support day-to-day communications priorities and planning.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic messaging and communications materials for employee reward and recognition programs, internal and external remarks, leadership messaging and high-profile business initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work collaboratively with managers, partners and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver against tight timelines.
  • High degree of business and professional acumen, preferably within the financial industry, with confidence operating in senior executive environments and providing thoughtful counsel and recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Have familiarity with quarterly earnings processes and executive communications, including the ability to support messaging development tied to business performance, strategic priorities and reputation considerations.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Personal Bank is an asset, including key business priorities, banking operations and the broader financial services landscape, with the ability to translate complex business topics into clear, strategic communications.

Additional qualifications and skills:

  • 8-10 years of experience in communications or related field, with background working in a corporate communications environment.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with a passion for creating content that conveys a clear and relevant message and that effectively capture tone and voice.
  • Strong interest in world news and broader issues and trends, combined with understanding of the financial services sector and the ability to apply to the Group Head's communication strategy.
