As our ideal candidate, you are an IT professional, with five to ten years of progressively responsible experience across a variety of roles. You are a creative problem solver who understands how to make successful outcomes repeatable and reliable. The pursuit of continuous improvement of processes and services is second nature to you, and you have a talent for applying policies and standards in the right places to get results. You have a practical, logical approach, and a long history of demonstrating your adaptiveness to changing work and priorities.

Reporting to the Manager of IT Controls, the Controls Analyst will have knowledge and hands-on experience developing and applying policies and standard procedures. The Analyst will work collaboratively with other analysts to ensure that the establishment, implementation, and/or automation of risk-mitigating controls are fit for both purpose and use. They will also act as a change advocate supporting the successful adoption and implementation of controls.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Support the implementation of a strategic framework for IT controls, including ITSM controls aligned with industry best practices and industry frameworks (such as ITIL, COBIT, COSO, NIST).

  • Leverage IT experience to develop, implement, and/or mature controls across all areas of IT, in a collaborative and pragmatic manner that supports operational capabilities while effectively mitigating risks.

  • Ensure that controls are developed with appropriate measures (CSFs, KPIs, KRIs) and reporting mechanisms, in order to validate that control objectives are being met.

  • Support the management of IT risks through the assessment of inherent and residual risks and through identification of relationships between risks and corresponding controls

  • Provide controls and best practice expertise to a diverse community of stakeholders across IT and the business, fostering the continuous improvement of controls

  • Support the organizational change management and adoption of controls across IT

  • Administer the IT Control Framework throughout the lifecycle of each control (ex. carry out exception management, facilitate annual reviews, monitor external influences, etc.)

  • Serve as a liaison between IT Controls, IT SMEs, and auditors (internal and external), supporting the identification and preparation of evidence in accordance with control objective. This role is not responsible for the planning and execution of internal audits.

  • Provide advisory services and training to a diverse community of stakeholders to enhance organizational understanding of controls and compliance requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with operations/project teams and leadership to identify and address impacts to risks and corresponding controls.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A diploma or degree in a related technical or professional discipline is required.

  • ITIL V4 Foundations certification, COBIT 2019 Foundation certification, and/or CRISC certification (Intermediate ITIL courses are considered an asset. Equivalent certifications, such as SIAM or CISA, will be considered.)

  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in progressively responsible IT roles; work in environments leveraging industry best practices (such as IT Service Management, IT Governance, IT Risk Management, or Strategic Business Analysis), or in regulated industries (insurance, health, financial) is considered an asset.

  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience mitigating business risk through the development and implementation of IT controls.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in organizing data to support effective analysis, while leveraging analytical tools and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both business and technical teams.

  • Competency to effectively prioritize and manage several conflicting, priority tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.

  • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to pay persistent attention to detail while maintaining an overall view of the big picture.

  • Strong interpersonal skills coupled with effective verbal and written communication

  • Decision-making ability and demonstrated leadership potential is a necessity.

  • A familiarity with working in technical operations or a structured software development environment is considered an asset.
