Position Overview

Autodesk’s rapidly growing AEC Data team is looking for a Senior Content Experience Designer to shape the future of integrated and online learning experiences for our platform products. In this position, you will create learning experiences that guide our customers and partners to gain knowledge and confidence in their use of the AEC Data Model and help to unlock more value from their data. You will work in partnership with experience designers, content designers, product managers, developers, and customers to make sure our content supports the learning needs and behaviors of our customers. Content may include, but is not limited to, online help, in-product learning, user interface content, API documentation, and product messaging. Additionally, as a Content Designer you will collaborate across Autodesk to develop and maintain content standards to ensure high-quality, connected platform experiences. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on the customer experience across the AEC Lifecycle. 

 

Autodesk’s AEC Data team designs the APIs, services, and user interfaces that our customers and developers use to access and manage granular data across the project lifecycle and extend the capabilities of Autodesk’s design and make software. We’re on a mission to help Autodesk teams, customers, and 3rd parties solve important workflow challenges and unlock powerful new insights ways to leverage data across our ecosystem. Success in this role requires a sound understanding of Autodesk cloud products and AEC Platform strategy and will often be required to collaborate with internal partners. We’re looking for someone who can lead and partner with teams with curiosity, empathy, and optimism, and who’s passionate about crafting world-class platform experiences. 

 

This role reports to the experience design manager for the AEC Platform Experience and Analytics.

Responsibilities 

  • Plan, write, and edit content from concept to delivery to make experiences simple, clear, and easy to use

  • Help ensure consistent use of terminology and patterns internally, between Autodesk products and with third party products 

  • Contribute to build taxonomies and glossaries to keep terminology aligned across the company and industries 

  • Research, design, and develop content solutions resulting in an effective customer learning experience delivered as part of an integrated product experience

  • Work closely with product teams to understand key customer requirements. Stay informed of project changes, gather information for estimating content development efforts, and update mediums as needed

  • Create customer-facing content following Autodesk learning strategies and content standards, and ensuring globalization readiness

  • Conduct technical reviews of content deliverables to ensure accuracy. In response to technical, editorial, and customer feedback, modify content as appropriate to correct errors, enhance clarity, and improve usability

  • Participate in a community of practice for content design

  • Lead collaboration efforts with other Autodesk teams to develop and enforce corporate learning strategies, content standards, globalization guidelines, and tools standards. Participate with and assist other designers and developers in the creation and maintenance of interaction and living style guides

  • Proactively look for ways to improve production processes, including assessing new tools, methodologies, delivery, and media

  • Acquire and apply market research, product usage, customer interviews, and other metrics to content initiatives to drive priorities, and continual improvement

 Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelors or higher in Education, English, Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Information Architecture, Communication, Journalism, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in content design, technical writing, or related field

  • Demonstrated experience writing for learning experiences in technical software environments and/or for technical personas.

  • A portfolio showcasing a range of content, such as technical documentation, API guides, and instructional materials

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities with direction and/or feedback from stakeholders and teammates

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of Architecture, Construction, and/or Engineering workflows

  • Familiarity with Autodesk products especially BIM 360, Autodesk Docs, Revit, AutoCAD, etc. 

  • Previous experience writing for complex data applications, APIs, or integration tools

  • Experience designing and shipping API experiences
