What you’ll be doing

The Compliance Department provides timely and proactive advice and independent oversight of CIBC’s compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Together with the businesses, the Compliance Department works to manage and mitigate regulatory risk.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Complaints, Reporting and Analytics, the Senior Compliance Officer, provides specialized expertise, advice, independent monitoring and oversight primarily, but not exclusively, in support of CIBC’s Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) activities.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Regulatory oversight – You will lead the creation, maintenance and assessment of regulatory Group Topics, as well as the identification or creation of mitigations including controls, policies and procedures, as needed. You will provide advice, recommendations and assistance in developing policies, procedures and communications to ensure compliance.

  • Compliance oversight – You will lead the development, review and enhancement of templates and training materials as well as job aids to support the understanding of the requirements and compliance.

  • Assessment and interpretation – You will conduct research and develop recommendations concerning best practices and standards that may be adopted by CRBC. You will perform analysis, on the current Regulatory Compliance Management libraries, to derive insights and identify opportunities to enhance and strengthen regulatory compliance oversight.

  • Regulatory reviews and reporting – You will lead the development of new and enhance existing compliance reports. You will also lead the assessment, investigation and/or management of inquiries, investigations, or reviews by regulators.

  • You can demonstrate experience in writing reports and briefing documents for senior management;  It’s an asset if you have previous working experience with data insights/management analytics/business intelligence tools in compliance, risk management, audit, or other governance groups in the financial services industry.
