What you’ll be doing

CIBC’s Communications and Public Affairs (C&PA) department is responsible for managing all internal and external corporate-level communications to employees, shareholders, clients, media, and community organizations. As Senior Consultant, Communications, you will be responsible for executing communications to support the mandate, strategic initiatives, and employee engagement activities of three key Functional Groups – Finance, Risk Management and Administration (comprised of Legal, Privacy, Audit, Ombudsman and Corporate Secretary, Internal Audit and ESG and Corporate Governance). This includes communications planning, writing, editing, advice, and counsel. You will be working with business partners to develop general and specific communications, plan and execute employee events, presentations, speeches, videos, communications plans, and other related communication activities.

How you’ll succeed

  • Communications Expert - Lead the development and execution of strategic communications plans and events to support business specific and enterprise-wide initiatives, strategic priorities, and employee engagement activities. Provide communications advice and counsel for executive and internal stakeholders on effective communication principles, plans and processes.
  • Relationship Management and Business Acumen - Confident working with senior executives, and ability to manage relationships across the organization with proven ability to build strong working partnerships focused on outcomes. A strong and comprehensive knowledge of financial services is an asset. You will work closely with other teams including corporate events, business management, intranet and translations on communications programs and projects.
  • Influence and Advise - Influence executives and partners with regard to approach, tone, content, and timely impact of communications. Provide counsel and recommendations on communications activities by offering recommendations on procedures and practices to improve the efficiency of the department and the role as well as ensuring communication strategies and tactics are successfully implemented.
