The Senior Claims Advisor Auto plays a critical role in driving claim efficiencies and managing complex claims. This position involves a combination of technical expertise with a strong focus on mentorship, supporting the development of team capabilities while ensuring timely, fair and effective claim resolutions.

What you will do:

  • Handle subrogation requests for third party property damage claims
  • Handle claims and subrogation requests that involve our insured damaging a rental 
  • Handle claims referred to the SIU for potential fraud or suspicious activity.
  • Prioritize and handle sensitive information while acting as the point of contact between SIU, the customer and the broker.
  • Review and handle SIU files to ensure that they are ready to be referred to SIU and that all necessary information gathering is completed prior to referral. 
  • Work with the SIU team and participate in the investigation as needed. Ensure that documents are sent to the necessary parties and act as the primary point of contact with the insured and the broker.
  • Participate and handle escalation/complaint calls from customers, brokers, vendors, and others coming to a fair resolution abiding with the Ontario Automobile Policy (OAP-1) and company policies.
  • Assist employees with their claims, ensuring timely processing and fair settlements.   
  • Provide guidance on documentation requirements and claims procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with all stakeholders. 
  • Display strong work ethics while dealing with private and sensitive employee data.
  • Act as a technical resource for the APD team members. 
  • Support junior Adjusters by sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Provide assistance in the handling of files by all APD handlers to ensure they are given opportunities to learn how to manage complex and litigated files.
  • Provide constructive feedback on claim assessments and negotiation strategies.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Consult on requests for authorizations i.e. Reserve and Authority to abandon or settle claims within designation authority.
  • Handle files that are in litigation, working with counsel and attend settlement conferences and court proceedings as needed.  

What you will need to succeed:

  • 3+ years’ of Auto Physical Damage Adjusting
  • Experience handling SIU claims.
  • Proven ability to handle complex claims.
  • Coach and mentor team members.
  • Strong time management, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Litigation management experience.
  • Experience in handling auto claims.
  • College diploma or University degree preferred.
  • Completion or in progress of CIP, CRM, CET, CSRP or other Specialty Insurance Certificate is preferred.

Please note that this role operates in a hybrid environment, with two days a week expected in our Cambridge, Ontario office.

The expected base salary range for this position is $56,000 - $103,500. Depending on your relevant experience, skills, qualifications, market conditions and business needs, base compensation may vary. You have the potential to earn more through Gore Mutual’s discretionary bonus program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.

Please note: This range reflects the expected base salary for this role but may not represent the full compensation range for all experience and skill levels. During the recruitment process, we will discuss and consider how your unique qualifications align with the broader range for this position.
