Primary Purpose:
The Business Consultant (BC) acts as a liaison between Business owners and IT teams. They work with the business to manage a portfolio of short-, medium-, and long-term business needs and advise on how technology enables those goals. When there is a technology solution ready to be enabled, the BC will perform intake and initiation of a new IT project, including gathering requirements and helping to determine initial budget. In addition, this associate acts as a liaison with other IT towers which may need to be involved to deliver new solutions.
Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations are Salisbury, NC; Chicago, IL; Quincy, MA; Carlisle, PA; Scarborough, ME; Hyattsville, MD; and Mauldin, SC.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Builds relationships to become trusted advisor, based on Business-IT knowledge and competence.
  • Identifies and captures short-, medium-, and long-term business goals and opportunities into a portfolio, utilizing business and technology best practices.
  • Works to identify where technology solutions can support business processes' while fitting into the overall business and IT strategies.
  • Identifies, understands, and prioritizes business needs and challenges and set more detailed scope of projects.
  • Aligns scope and timelines of the proposed IT projects with the Business and other IT functions.
  • During planning phase, acts as a liaison with other IT teams who may be needed to deliver solutions.
  • Develops and obtains approval for investment proposals in conjunction with business and other IT functions.
  • Work with the business and with IT to translate the business' needs into detailed IT requirements.
  • Ensures business requirements are translated into functionality of existing or new IT systems.
  • Works with Project Managers and Project Accountants to ensure requirements are developed into solutions, and supports any changes to scope or budget.
  • Assists the business in judging how additional features in IT-systems can be used to further improve the business.
  • Ensures the right IT functionality was delivered in order to enable ADUSA's business strategy.


Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or related Technical field and Masters Degree in Technology and/or Business related field; equivalent education/certifications/experience equivalency will be considered
  • 8 or more years of equivalent experience in relevant job or field of technology.
  • 5 or more years of equivalent experience in an advanced role or technical capacity, leading teams directly or indirectly
  • 5 or more years of experience directly responsible for leading a team of technical team members in relevant technologies, capabilities or skills
  • Sound judgment and risk mitigation capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with vendors and internal stakeholders effectively coupled with a keen ability to influence others toward a common goal
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Experience handling competing priorities with strict deadlines. Ability to prioritize and plan work of the team to meet time-based deliverables.
  • Experience supporting corporate applications in 3 or more of the following areas: Asset Protection, Risk Management, Legal, Food Safety, Sustainable Retailing, Store Development, Store Maintenance, Energy, Facilities Services, Lease Management, Lease Admin Accounting, Competitive Intelligence, Aviation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Sharepoint


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post graduate degree advanced training and or certifications in relevant field/s of study
  • In-depth knowledge of all development and delivery phases of complex technology projects and programs (e.g., discovery, estimation, initiation, planning, design, execution, release)
  • Business Development experience with product solutioning and client engagement in a highly technical environment
  • Experience leading projects related to modernization and re-platforming of large-scale solutions
  • Experience in retail or grocery preferred.
  • Experience with Agile teams and Product/Platform based operating model.
