The Role:

Rakuten Kobo Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to support our data analytics team. You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, using strong analytical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills to translate business needs into actionable requirements that accelerate delivery and improve productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with stakeholders and executives to gather, clarify, and validate requirements through active listening, insightful questioning, and collaborative communications.
  • Translate business needs into clear, structured Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and ensure prioritization to deliver meaningful business impact.
  • Identify gaps and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce rework.
  • Partner with quality assurance team to support testing and ensure the final deliverable meets the acceptance criteria against requirements.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and proactively collaborate with both technical and business teams to maintain progress across your portfolio.

The Skill Set:

Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role
  • Proven experience creating BRDs and managing requirements end-to-end for reporting, analytics or data teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with software delivery lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and tools like Jira, Confluence.
  • Knowledge of QA processes and test case development.

Nice to haves

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and understanding of reporting workflows including ETL processes and data pipelines.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and data analytics concepts.
  • Familiarity with SQL or basic data querying for validation purposes.
  • Knowledge of data governance and best practices for managing data quality.

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the Compensation (base salary + discretionary bonus) for this role to be within the range shown below. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for stock options, health, vision, dental insurance, RRSP matching, Personal Time Off (PTO), Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.

CAD $77,837.00 - 122,548.53 annually
