Purpose of the Role:

As our Senior Business Partner, you will be a strategic and trusted partner to the business, building consultative and long-term relationships with internal client groups at Nicola Wealth. Your collaborative and consultative approach combined with strong subject matter expertise enables you to bring best-in-class practices to the table, including the use of data to advise and shape our people and culture strategies and business decision making. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to our Private Wealth teams (including our Wealth Advisors, Wealth Planning Associates, and Insurance teams) and Marketing team, developing and driving the overall people strategy in partnership with the leaders in your client groups. 
  • Be a leader in the business and a change agent for our people and culture work, constantly assessing opportunities and risks, driving continuous improvement, and demonstrating how People and Culture can be elevated to support our organization’s goals and strategies. 
  • Be the face of our People and Culture team to your client groups, ensuring that our people and culture services are delivered seamlessly in a client-focused way, and that you are plugged into the needs and strategies of your client groups. 
  • Be proactive and consultative. Coach, advise and support leaders on people and culture issues, and talent and business strategies. 
  • Work in close partnership with our Talent Acquisition team and your client group leaders to develop workforce plans, scope roles, build healthy talent pipelines and select top talent to drive our high-performing organization.  
  • Be a proactive and strategic talent development partner to the business supporting effective talent assessment, competency development and building of internal talent pipelines for leadership and critical roles. 
  • Actively analyze people and culture data and share insights back with the business to shape and elevate people related strategies, planning and initiatives. 
  • Participate in planning and implementing various people and culture-related projects (in areas including performance management, leadership, disability management, workplace policies, wellbeing, DEI, etc.) 
  • Lead the coordination and delivery of annual people and culture activities including performance planning, talent reviews and the compensation cycle, and operational activities (e.g., drafting employment letters, disability management, etc.) as required for your client group teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience across several HR / P&C subject areas including several years as a P&C / HR Business Partner.
  • Experience as a strategic business partner to sales and marketing client groups.
  • You’re an exceptional listener, communicator and relationship builder.
  • You build trust and confidence across teams, departments and with leaders.
  • You’re a builder and a creator who thrives on the variety of doing both strategic work and executing on day-to-day operational work.
  • You have a high level of business acumen – you can speak the language of the business and able to connect business priorities and strategy to people and culture opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. 
  • CPHR or equivalent certification. 
  • You are legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer. 
  • Experience and skills as a coach or using a coaching approach, and using talent assessments for selection and talent development is an asset. 
  • Experience using Ceridian Dayforce, WorkDay, Greenhouse and PowerBI are also an asset. 

Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a competitive base salary hiring range of $130,000 - $160,000; dependent on experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity.
