We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who will play a key role in building and scaling Veriswap’s backend systems. This is a pure IC role focused on designing high-quality backend architecture, shipping reliable features, and ensuring our platform remains fast, secure, and scalable as we grow.
You’ll work closely with Product and Design, contribute to technical decisions, and take ownership of complex backend challenges in a fast-moving environment.
You will:
- Design and build backend systems using TypeScript and NestJS.
- Develop and optimise PostgreSQL schemas for large and evolving datasets.
- Ensure backend systems are secure, scalable, robust, and performant.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to deliver new features end-to-end.
- Break down complex requirements into clear implementation phases.
- Contribute to system architecture discussions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain best practices in GitHub workflows (PR reviews, branching, commits).
- Debug, troubleshoot, and improve code across the backend stack.
RequirementsWhat We’re Looking ForMust-haves
- 4+ years of backend development experience with NestJS.
- 4+ years working with PostgreSQL (schema design, performance optimisation).
- 3+ years using TypeScript in production environments.
- 2+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, GCP services).
- Experience in B2C product companies (not agencies or consultancies).
- Background working in scaling environments (1→10), not only early prototypes.
- Deep understanding of REST APIs, backend security, and performance tuning.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; comfortable working with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in consumer apps, marketplaces, or fintech.
- Familiarity with Next.js or similar frameworks.
- Interest in collectibles, trading, or sports cards (a plus, not required).
