THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Director, Tax based in Toronto, your focus will be on preparation of Canadian tax reporting and ad hoc tax support for Onex Corporation and management companies while working closely with the other lines of business.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Preparation of Canadian corporate tax returns and compilation of data supporting those returns
  • Preparation of recurring Value Added Tax returns for management companies in Canada and the UK and supporting work papers (including SLFI)
  • Solicitation, compilation, and preparation of FATCA and CRS forms for various fund entities and select investors
  • Preparation and assimilation of information used for FBAR reporting for individual filings and select entity filings
  • Compilation and preparation of working papers for tax provisions for select operating business based in Canada and the UK
  • Examining investor profiles and other investor activity as needed to support withholding calculations or other reporting purposes
  • Reviewing, managing and resolving tax correspondence received from various tax authorities

WHAT YOU BRING:Professional Characteristics

  • University degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, business or commerce
  • CPA designated or working towards the CPA designation is preferred
  • Ideally possess a minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in a tax role or a strong interest in tax
  • Attention to detail and good communication skills necessary
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred
  • Experience with Tax Prep suite of products or another tax preparation software considered an asset
  • Ability to self-start, multi-task, and meet deadlines
  • A willingness to learn
  • Entrepreneurial, team-oriented work ethic and personality
