About Capital One
We've been helping millions of Canadians for over 20 years by providing them with access to credit. We work hard to put our customers first by providing innovative, smart solutions that make banking effortless.
Working with us
We know that the way to attract top talent is to create a fun work environment that fosters learning and career development, but we also know that you've got a life that's about more than just work. We're focused on the quality of your work, not how many hours you spend working. Our approach is designed to foster collaboration and innovation with a focus on agility and teamwork. We're passionate about associates having fun, and since it's uncomfortable to do any of those things in a suit and tie, those aren't required either. We have a business casual dress code because we believe our associates will do their best work when they're feeling like themselves.
Working as a Risk Manager in Risk
As part of the Strategic Risk Defense ("SRD") Team within Capital One's Canada Risk Office, you will be joining a growing team of experienced, collaborative and forward-thinking risk management professionals. As a Risk Manager within the Business Risk Office, you will work with extended teams across the enterprise to identify and consult on potential risks to Capital One.
In this role you will be facilitating risk and control assessments across the business on processes, products and new initiatives. You will partner with business teams to capture risks, document assessments and collaborate with second line Risk.
We aren't looking for perfection, we are looking for passion. We value diverse views and seek team members with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. If you are curious and eager to learn new things, enjoy relationship building, have a deep reverence for process management, and love to have fun at work, this may be the role for you!
A great member of the SRD team will:

  • Perform risk and control assessments on critical business processes, products and new initiatives to identify risks and work with key stakeholders to mitigate and remediate as appropriate
  • Collaborate with second line Risk (e.g. ERM, ORM, Compliance/AML), Audit, Legal, and business partners to support assessments and create leading-edge solutions
  • Draw linkages to other business units and leverage a strong knowledge of precedent within assessments
  • Support risk owners as they develop mitigation commitments that directly address the root causes and impacts of a risk
  • Leverage business forums and practices outside of risk programs to drive effective monitoring of risks
  • Maintain knowledge of enterprise Standards and ensure risk assessments are designed to and are delivering on those expectations
  • Translate complex changes in the internal and external environments into impacts for business partners in a clear, simple and concise manner
  • Inspire a strong risk management mindset and culture with business partners

The Basics...What We Need from You!

  • Passionate about risk management, problem solving, and making things better!
  • Bachelor's degree

The Extras...What would be great for you to have:

  • Experience working in a regulated industry
  • CPA designation or certification in risk management
  • Experience with Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Audit or a similar risk management function
