What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Director of Fusion Data & Analytics, the Senior Analytics Consultant will collaborate closely with various partners across Lines of Business (LOBs) to analyze data that supports effective incident response and to develop threat detection logic utilizing cross-pillar datasets. The Fusion Data & Analytics team is committed to leveraging data & analytics to safeguard CIBC clients, employees, and assets from financial crimes. In this role, you will conduct data analysis to uncover emerging behaviors and patterns of threat actors concealed within the data.

How you'll succeed

  • Analytics support for incident response – enable swift incident response by supporting any data and analysis needs during incidents. You will coach and provide instructions to junior members so that multiple incidents can be supported simultaneously. Work closely with Fusion Response team and various business owners to deliver the required data to respond to incidents effectively. 

  • Threat detection logic development – Use cross-domain data to develop detection logics for various threat scenarios. Work closely with business partners to understand the detection targets and their behaviours to come up with alerts that will mitigate the risk. Team is currently working on enhancing the threat detection capabilities using network graph database Neo4j and any familiarity or experience in this space is highly valued.
  • Automation - Support Fusion continuous improvement initiative with automation. Use your programming skills to enable business partners and innovate existing manual processes.
  • Coaching - Play a key role in coaching junior team members, supporting their onboarding, and providing training on daily tasks to ensure a high-performing team environment. Lead the development of useful guides for data knowledge and know-how for incident handling.

  • You can demonstrate 5+ years of experience in data handling and manipulation. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of CIBC data, strong data analytics expertise, and advanced problem-solving skills

  • You deliver valuable analytics solutions. The candidate will be capable of managing the majority of day-to-day responsibilities independently, while also proactively implementing innovative solutions to deliver excellence.

  • You have eyes for detail. Meticulousness in data handling and analysis is critical to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
